What Are Most Chats Like?
Do most members not use 7cups for reasons related to their mental health? I notice a lot of listeners do not prefer to have deeper conversations involving topics like depression or will avoid it easily. Like it's an icky thing that needs to be put into a dark corner. Or it makes the member a difficult person as they are not discussing something like a friend drama or something else of the sort
@UmaUma
I can't speak for anyone but from what I've noticed people in chats are generally supportive and kind. They do get carried away with conversation and surely they've built friendships here over extended periods of time so merely talking about things important solely to them likely provides some release or comfort, I imagine.
I've seen things that I personally don't like but that's just a personal problem, however, I've never seen anyone treated as an exile for any type of thinking or views. I've only been here roughly a week so take my analysis as you will.
What about psychology do you enjoy discussing?
@UmaUma It supposed to be meant for all verity of mental health issues. It might be about finding the right listener. There might be topics that a specific person is not good at or gets uncomfortable with. Listeners are not professionals. Still, I can imagine how it could be disorienting to have the experienced that you described.
The point is that looking for depression support in 7 cups chats is absolutely valid.
Hopefully, the experience will not prevent you from finding helpful chats.
Practical note: If you want to increase your chances you can search for specific listeners by reading their bios. You can also set Depression as your area of needed support in your profile for the random listeners to see before they pick your chat
I would be happy to listen if you ever have something on your mind!
@UmaUma I would think most listeners would be open to talking about what really matters 😕 I'm sorry if you've been having bad experiences with some though 💙
