Work Causing Depression
Hi all,
It's been awhile. At work I am constantly worked to the absolute bone I work 13-14 hr days with a boss who doesn't care about me and use me as a tool. She constantly makes fun of me and berrades me saying "take it with a grain of salt" or "don't be so sensitive". The owner of the practice who I'm closest too values me but values her more and I have literally begged her to talk to her or make it know that I am not to work that long every day. I'm chronically I'll too and constantly pushing myself. Every day at work is a bad day I cry on my way to work and on my way home. I try not to bring the day home with me but she is constantly texting me about work.... It's really effected my life I'm constantly anxious and depressed and don't really know what to do. So I came back to 7 cups for help...

That's long hours.
No boss should treat you like that at all.
Life is way too short to be in the wrong job.
Can you leave?
Can you complain to anyone else?
What other job could you do?

Thank you for validating my feelings!
Unfortunately what I do is extremely niche and in my area there are only 3 people in this field and I work with all of them so I feel really trapped.
I have complained to everyone I can and unfortunately no one cares enough.
I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I'm in such a niche field and the next practice I could go to is almost 2 hours away...

Can you talk to your boss about it? And just stand up for yourself, stand your ground? I mean it is really long hours.
Thanks for sharing this with us. It’s painful when you spend so much effort and someone still doesn’t appreciate it. Maybe it would be helpful to set personal boundaries—this can increase your confidence and reduce these painful interactions. But I know this is really hard—I’ve experienced it myself. It also seems like you put a lot of pressure on yourself. This is a topic in psychology, and there is a lot of information about personal boundaries that you can find online. And we are here to support you and help you handle this.
You sound like you’re spiritually dying. A trapped animal will chew a limb off to survive. It sounds like you’re profession may be the limb.
