depressive episode, how to deal?
for the past months, ive been going through a heavy depressive episode. im so unsatisfied with my life and with myself, i lost interest in anything that once made me happy. today it had reached its breaking point, i couldnt stop crying, my whole body aches and i feel like i got no more motivation to do anything
Whenever depression strikes, my go-to tactic is to do anything other than sit motionlessly. Sitting & doing nothing strengthens it; then the dark fog rolls through your brain & it has its way with you. I'd say get out of the house & go for a walk, & stay out there as long as you can. Or have something to eat or write in your journal, etc. Just about anything is better than sitting there like a sea urchin on a rock. It doesn't work 100% of the time (nothing does) but I find that a depressive episode is often lessened by activity of some sort.
@slowdecline48 does it help if im watching a show
@feefus I dunno...it can, I guess. Might take your mind off the gloom. Personally I find watching TV too passive to be an effective counter-depression tactic, but then I haven't owned a TV set in years so obviously I'm biased. 😏
It can be so tough. What I do is force myself to realize that each small thing that I do is a victory. It slowly but surely helps. I also find that getting outside for a bit can also help. Are you eating and drinking water okay?@feefus
@bestVase7265 yeah im drinking and eating, i just find it difficult to move cause of the debilitating sadness
I do so get that. It is so hard to even think. If you can try sitting by a window looking outside. Any movement is a victory. @feefus

Depressive episodes are always really difficult. They make you feel like nothing matters and nothing could ever make you happy. One thing I do want you to remember is that it's okay to cry, crying is a good release of emotions. I'm sorry you've been so depressed though, I hope you can find that motivation and get yourself out of that depressive episode.

Hey maybe try sitting outside going outside even to sit really boosts my mood even if I dont think it will just sit and listen also give yourself small goals like realistic like one a day then you can build it up. Also writing and painting can be therapeutic idk how you are and animals but maybe consider adopting a pet idk I dont know how your are and pets and maybe eventually try going somewhere where there are people u dont have to talk that could be a small step if it keeps u from interacting w others anyway Take care beautiful human I hope this can help a little sending virtual hugs :))
