oh how i long to be yours

User Profile: StarrySkies1236
StarrySkies1236 June 14th, 2024

you never will be able to understand the number of times I long to be able to be yours, to know you and to love you, and to be loved in return. the number of times I rub away an ache in my chest simply from seeing something that reminds me of what I’ve wished for and not received.

it’s not quite being in love but it’s the closest thing to love that i’ve been able to label without healing new cuts or bruises. the simple nudge and nostalgia that follows is relentless in its pursuit as life moves me away.

sometimes I’m scared that I’ll lose this but then I feel another wave of longing and am reminded that my mind doesn’t forget things as easily as I think it does.

Sorry I meant to respond and never got around to it.

Things have been somewhat better, but it’s been a lot of downtime where there’s not a lot of things going on.

Thank you for saying that. I’ve heard it so many times and sometimes it feels like something that some people get and it’s only for the people who get lucky. We have moments where we’re not fighting or anything but most of the time it’s not a ton of conversations and we’re not on our own. (usually brothers around)

I don’t think so. It’s mainly about how I don’t have my license and am not as into the idea of driving, because if I could drive myself she’d be fine with it. She also has said that it’s about the ‘community’ aspect and my brothers are involved in the local things where this other church is.

How are you hanging in? I know I’m a little off balance with the new year and it seems weird to be in 2025. @bestVase7265

Yes, it is lots of downtime with the holidays. Now we will start into being busy again slowly but surely.

I am sorry that the family situation still isn't as you want it to be. I am not sure it's luck or not. I think most families look different in public than they really are when they are at home together. Everyone has some anger and resentment going somewhere because we all treat our families the roughest.

I too feel a little off and anxious going into 2025. The first two days have gone okay but it is a little like waiting for the rough stuff to start. But I am trying to not look too far down the road. My resolution this year is "don't rush". So things don't happen immediately and I have to wait. I am going to try to relax into that.

Sorry about the church thing. You might consider trying to pick up the driving. You deserve to have some more freedom from feeling stuck. Driving does help with that.

Hi. I'm so sorry that I haven't been here. I'm getting to the point where I am struggling with still being a kid but don't know how to 'adult'. School's been busy enough where any free time including work time is limited and my emotions have been all over the place this last month. I've thought of all of people here a lot though, and I've been hoping that everyone here has been doing better but never could actually find the time where I could get online and be in a place where I can be present emotionally. My family's been normal if you look at the last 17 years of my life, but I'm getting to a place where I've spent my energy trying to be the best me for everyone else and no one is reaching back out to me. I hope your last 6 weeks has been better than mine, and I'm going to try my best to continue to respond here but I can't guarantee anything. I'm currently fighting off the remains of something but I can't afford to be sick cause my brothers get nothing done and I have work.

How has your school been? Have you been able to get into the rhythm of things and find some time for yourself? 🫶

There is absolutely no need for any apology. I will let you in on a secret - none of us really know how to adult. You are very much allowed to figure it out as you go.

When you have space in your brain, feel free to share here so the emotions don't build up in your head. But you are also just fine when you take time off.

With the exception of how horrible national politics is going right now, I am pretty much okay with my new semester. But I take it a day at a time.

There’s a lot of confusion and ‘construction’ like I’m working to get better as a person but it’s hard when I’m still stuck in the same circles. I’ve gotten to a place where I don’t really have anyone in my corner irl. I know people and I have friends, but they all have people who come before I do. Which is okay and isn’t wrong, but when there’s no one that puts you even close to first it gets draining.

Are you guys getting “warm” weather rn? Where I am, we were getting pretty nice days but this week it’s getting cooler again. I feel like that has been making productivity harder for me this week but hopefully I’m staying on track. One day at a time, and one moment at a time is what I’m learning I can handle.

Trust me when I say that your friends only look like they have their act together. And even if they do have things temporarily together it won't necessarily stay that way.

The fact that you are trying to get on a better path means everything. Sometimes it is really hard to see the progress that you are making from the inside. But you are making progress just by trying.

I am sorry that you don't feel like you have too many people in your corner at the moment. That can be really tough until someone suddenly appears there. I am here online in your corner at least.

It has been warm the last week or so but we are due for a bit colder weather in the next few days. I am actually looking forward to it. We get much more heat than cold where I am from. @StarrySkies1236

I never really had any concrete examples or experience with anything relating to this quote before but I’ve always loved it. In the movie adaptation of ‘Wonder’, the older sister says something in response to miscommunication about a play she’s only slightly in ‘You know, you’ve been really good at leaving me alone my life’ and now I know what it feels like. My mom has been trying to be better, and that’s great, but I think I might be too far gone. My brothers don’t understand why I ‘hide in my room’ but when I leave, and seem much happier with friends, i hope they’ll understand. @bestVase7265

She keeps trying to change her parenting style to be better and I don’t think I am there anymore. I think she did her physical best but it wasn’t any good in the long run. I have severe anxiety, sometimes more social anxiety than ’regular’ anxiety, and get very overstimulated with sound, and often just am not in a place where her efforts can be received. She is now going through all of these things where she’s trying to parent well but is only focusing on some aspects of it like me being on my phone (which has been really good recently but she doesn’t actually pay attention to the amount of time), or me exercising, or how my room looks, and not the things causing all of those things. She also is in the dance of doing her thing but thinking that my dad is doing his thing wrong; they both think they’re doing a good job, and the other is wrong. She’s trying to have her start dual enrollment but never really put the effort into our homeschooling before time started to get down to the wire. I have barely enough time to do my classes to graduate but she wants us to move around our whole schedule and start somewhere completely different with things complicated and not clear.

So all in all, I think my life has gone beyond the point where the damage she’s done can really be healed.

Thank you. I’m trying to keep my efforts up but not really getting any better with motivation or inspiration to do things well. @bestVase7265

Well, I am indeed sorry that you have been struggling so much. It does sound like a lot.

It might help to reframe things a bit though. Saying that your mom has done permanent damage to you just makes that damage harder to manage. You aren't going to make her change with those internal thoughts anyway.

So it might help to just focus on what you can do. What kinds of things can you do to figure out the school stuff on your own? Can you organize it better than she does? What subjects are you finding confusing? Maybe I can point you in the direction of some better sources.

As far as the anxiety goes, how are you managing it? Maybe we can come up with a plan to make things easier for you.

I’m hoping she hasn’t done anything permanent, but right now I’m just trying to get through each day.

I already figure out all my school stuff off, the one exception is driving to everything, and I try to organize everything. Most subjects I’m okay in, I just don’t really have any drive to go beyond that. ( It’s more just that she didn’t do any of this in a timely fashion, like she made me take the SAT in freshman year but didn’t do anything with dual enrollment until it’s six months until my senior year starts) @bestVase7265

So what kinds of dual enrollment classes will you be taking?

Am I remembering correctly that you don't have a driver's license?

It's okay if some days all you can manage is one day at a time. That's actually all you need. Sometimes my days are like that too. @StarrySkies1236

User Profile: StarrySkies1236
StarrySkies1236 OP March 31st, 2025

So we don’t really have the option of choosing…I have to get certain credits to graduate and any of the classes she won’t let us take at our ‘school’ / aren’t available, are going to be dual enrollment if she has her way. My thing is just that if she really wanted to prioritize, she would have been hands on when she wasn’t working and was supposed to be teaching me and we would have had more time now where i could do extra classes and get more credit. Yes, you are correct. I drive with a parent or a grandparent right now, but as soon as I get my license I’m sure I’ll be having to do any driving they don’t want to do. And I guess I’m being a little selfish but I don’t want to be the driver of the family.

Most days, I focus on that one day. I’m finding that I’m not able to really get anything out of it without stepping out of myself and giving it over. I’ve gotten better at saying things without worrying it’ll hurt other people’s feelings, but I still have people I know I need to have a conversation with. Not for their sake, but for mine.

How is your school right now? Mine is still pretty busy but cooling down slightly. 🫶🏻 @bestVase7265

It sounds like you are doing good work. The courses will hopefully work themselves out and it won't take you too long to graduate. Unluckily you can't undo what has already been done.

But I love the fact that you have started having conversations with people. Even the ones that are for your own sanity actually help your listener as well. We all just need to be more honest with one another.

So you drive when you feel ready. You are right that you may end up driving others at times, but there is also something freeing about being able to go out on your own and escape being around your family all the time. You begin to feel like you make some of your own decisions even if you do sometimes become other people's drivers. Once your brothers also get their licenses that they can hopefully do some of that as well. @StarrySkies1236

But we’ll be busy almost all of the time there, so no school or anything will be getting done. I also enjoy the company of several of my coworkers much more, and having something that I need to do within a certain amount of time helps with my procrastination/ADD. I got so used to it and it becomes natural scarily fast. 🤷🏻‍♀️ It’s just kinda my reality right now. Sorry that you have to spend more time with your family in the next week. But it was good to hear that you like being with your coworkers. That means there is a part of your life that is going okay right now. Stay focused on that when you can.

Bring some schoolwork and stuff along on the trip on the off chance that you can get a few minutes. It also gives you a good excuse to not always be present for the family stuff.

You are slowly getting to the point where you are getting older and will be able to make more choices for yourself. One step at a time.

It's okay to mute your emotions sometimes. It can feel a little weird though because the positive stuff fades too. Maybe things will feel better once school ends and you start to see what the future might look like. The waiting is really hard because you are in limbo.

I got to a point where I wasn’t muting but then everything picked up and I think my defensives kinda kicked in automatically without me choosing. I am hoping it does, but I have a suspicion it will go by too fast for my liking. I have been taking some time off of other things, like most of the friendships I have at my youth group are either very one-sided or very off and on. So I think I’ve made it clear that whereas I do value the group of girls, they’re not my inner circle and I’ve tried to prompt change but it’s slow.

I saw him last wednesday and friday, for the first time since friendsgiving, which was a complete mess by itself, and he’s sending mixed signals again which makes me kinda mad but I’m choosing to ignore it because I shouldn’t expect anything else. I don’t know exactly how I’ve done this to myself but I get to the point where I am feeling like I’ve grown away from having so many feelings and then I see him and it comes back instantly. It’s happened twice when I don’t see him for five months and then I see him again. I had to tell my (probably closest) friend that she can’t talk about him trying to flirt with her because I just can’t listen to it. She also doesn’t really understand just how bad my feelings are, I think. I am kinda hiding from him when I see him, but I feel like a sixth sense when he looks over at me and it’s really unsettling. I don’t know if he can see it though, but I’m trying my best to have the best end-of-school-year.

I can’t believe it’s been a full year since I originally posted this, but I feel like I’ve made progress with me, but none with him.

Here’s some year anniversary cookies 🍪🍪🍪 I know I’ve had some really bad weeks but I try to see the good, thank you for being here when I come back. 🫶🏻

I am just waiting. for what, I’m not sure but I can’t really see any way of doing anything that helps you or me. if I could say something without making it awkward, I would

and I realized that when I see you it does hurt, and I do have to rub away an ache in my heart. but I don’t think I knew before just how much it would hurt. I hope that what I see from you is what you’re trying to do, and not just made up, but I also am wishing that you see how much better you could be. not about me, but just who you let around you.

and I hope someday you get people who push you to be the man I know you can be, but I don’t think I’m who you need. I don’t even know if you’re who I need, but I know who I don’t need and the one I need.

so maybe this is a slow goodbye. maybe I may have to give you up, but I will wish you the best when this is over.

seeing you drive away might be exactly what I need. and I hate that my mind goes to the goodbyes but you’ve left me no other choice. and I won’t settle for being the safe option, or the security option, the ‘just-in-case’. and I’m not sorry for protecting myself from you, I’ve seen too many who hurt when they get close enough.

Both of your messages are just so beautiful! You have learned a tremendous amount in the last year and you have really grown up.

You are being really honest about your feelings with friends which is awesome because you need to know what you need first and then protect that.

Even better, you aren't falling under his spell. It still hurts, but you do deserve better than being with someone who isn't caring for you and doesn't put you in top place. You will eventually find someone better. Some of his reaction now might be a form of regret, but that doesn't mean he has grown up the way that you have.

I am very proud of all the hard emotional work that you have done. You should be too.

I don’t know why I have to keep telling her this…I almost caused a car crash/was in one. And I’ve known I could be and I told her that. But she doesn’t even listen when I tell her I’m not feeling safe and I can’t drive safely with her. But no, when I’m having a panic attack and emotionally tired from dealing with all the mess at work and then coming home and wanting to go back to work, that’s the time to start learning new things with driving. Not even worried about the fact that I could have easily crashed. Or the fact that the boys might not feel comfortable with me driving like this. Just trying to ‘parent’ me without giving me the safe place of a family.

Ugh. That all sounds very frustrating. I am sorry that your mom isn't listening to your panic over driving.

Sometimes the key is to just keep repeating the issue. Make it a more daily issue and she may start to listen eventually.

Especially after you have nearly had a accident it can be hard to get started again. What do you do when the panic attacks start? @StarrySkies1236

I am hoping to not make it a big thing, because I don’t want to actually crash or hurt anyone. Generally, I make sure I get whatever it is I’m doing done before letting it get out of control and find a quiet place to wait it out. Sometimes it’s my room but my parents started just opening the door so sometimes it’s my bathroom floor. The anxiety is one of the giveaway symptoms and I can kinda tell based on my posture and feelings. @bestVase7265

There are a few things that help me when I start having a panic attack. One is trying to do lots of counted breathing (four seconds in, four seconds out, etc). Having a plan beforehand to distract myself also can help. They say taking a short walk before doing something stressful can be good. Finally, the weird one that really helps - drinking ice water, the colder the better. It really helps reset my brain.

Sending peace. @StarrySkies1236

So long story short: my brain is now perma-mush…. We drove up north to my grandparents other house, cause they like to take me for a few weeks during the summer, but I can’t believe it’s almost July. I think my brain is procrastinating with the feelings about my senior year and everything that comes with it, but I don’t really know if there’s anything to do about it. I think I’m just so scared of not having enough time to stay ‘okay’. @bestVase7265

Senior year is an emotional one no matter what. But the best way to survive it is not to worry whether you are procrastinating too much or whether you will get everything done or whether you are enjoying it enough.

You are doing enough the way you are right now. You are enough right now. Rest when you need to. Take lots of deep breaths. Look at it all just a day at a time.

Some days your brain is allowed to be mush. You are allowed to just enjoy being with your grandparents and relaxing a little in June and July. You have got this. @StarrySkies1236

After a month of being with my grandparents / away from home, I am on our drive back. It’s going to be a long trip (three days with ten hours in a car yesterday, seven ish today, and maybe seven tomorrow), but we have to drive home tonight and go back tomorrow. I’ll get to see my kitties which is one positive and maybe repack some bags which is another, but the whole thing is quite chaotic. Baby bro (who’s actually almost ten) is overtired and been quite a handful, middle bro is cooped up and being loud, and oldest bro (still younger than me) doesn’t quite understand how people work because he has Asperger’s syndrome. My mind still feels cluttered but with the rest from my concussion it got a little better. @bestVase7265

Keep reminding yourself that you are going to be the same at 18 as you are at 17. It is just a number, not some firm boundary line of adulthood. You will figure out each step along the way. Some things are going to become easier as you are able to get some more independence.

Some things might be a bit scarier. However, I am always here if you want to talk them through. You have a good head on your shoulders and you will figure out a quality plan.

I had a rude awakening yesterday, because my mom is fine with me walking a mile to work and back. ( Across a busy road with no sidewalk at some parts ) Yet almost every single adult at my workplace and even the teens all told me ‘Do not walk, we’ll find someone’ . I’ve had two teens drive me because they have cars (and my family has no car that I can drive for myself right now) and one of the women who offered to drive me home last night asked her daughter and daughter’s boyfriend to drive me home. It was on the verge of storms on top of the fact that it would be walking home a mile.

My mom did not communicate that she could not drive me until three hours until I had to go to work and she told me half of what she needed to tell me. My boss would’ve called an uber before having me walk, and several people were more than happy to swing by and get me. It’s just tiring having to manage my time while no one else manages theirs, and then having to work double to make up for the miscommunication. She told me while I was half asleep. Not when she picked me up, or before I went to work for 8 hours. While I was in bed, and half asked. I spent an hour panicking because walking a mile in 85 degree heat is not something that you should do before working. I found someone yesterday and he actually offered to drive me home but, again, my mom didn’t actually tell me she wasn’t going to be home, so I didn’t have the ability to move my shift around and told him I was fine. It feels like yesterday was just wasted because four hours of yesterday I had to spend waiting or rushing to get a ride. @bestVase7265

I've had you and your family in my prayers as I’ve gone through my day-to-day, I just haven’t been able to be online at all. I have less than 30 days until I’m 18 which is insane to type/say. Just getting through each day and trying to minimize the mess of an adult I’m going to be.

It is so good to see you pop back up in my feed again. I was nervous that your mom had cut you off permanently.

You aren't going to be a mess of an adult. You are going to be just fine. It is always a day by day process and you won't make any more mistakes at 17 than at 18. In fact you will make fewer because you are learning. You can do this.

My situation unluckily has remained unchanged, if not worsened a bit. It is like being caught perpetually in a clothes dryer with no real way out. My dad is still with us and that stress has been very constant because it is impossible to plan anything, I am also having multiple smaller medical issues that will involve 2 surgeries next year. But it is day by day for me just like it is for you.

I hope that you have an enjoyable holiday season.

It’s just a lot of change. And I’ve found that my body is just in survival mode right now. Like I have only so much that I can actually deal with, and then as soon as that’s done I just shut down. So I’m just looking forward to the point where I’m either functioning on my own within my dad’s house or my grandparents, and can maybe get some sort of support medically or even just anti-depressants. Because I don’t like where I am right now, but I don’t think it’s within my capacity to change it. I don’t think getting on meds will make it all go away, but I’m hoping it helps.

My heart is with you. I know I can’t really empathize right now, but I’m thinking of you in this season and sending light, prayers, and cups hugs. I hope that you can get to a point where things feel more stable with your dad and your family can enjoy this season a little more. Praying that you remain healthy and things start getting better, as well for the surgeries.

Hoping this winter brings some needed rest, and things start looking up.

The journey to healing happens in small steps. Anti-depressants can help as can talk therapy. The combination is usually best. You have already started on the journey by realizing that you need to be there. Fighting is hard but you have more strength than you know. As an adult you will be able to make more decisions for yourself.

That doesn't make any of it easy as I well know. But the world doesn't stop moving forward either. I trust that there is a path out there that will work. That things will get better, but I just don't know when. So today I mourn for what is going to be a rough start to 2026. But I will take it a day at a time and there will be some okay moments in there. May you also see that basic truth for yourself. @StarrySkies1236

Just the amount of opportunities I have.

I'm hypothetically working at a camp in the mountains next summer, that's a place I went around 5-7 years ago with my family. I'll be over 10 hours away from both parents, which is kinda yay, and I'll be 5 from an aunt that I haven't seen in a while, full yay!

I got really nostalgic about it back in the beginning of June, and when I say nostalgic I mean nostalgic. It was maybe 5 different times that it kept coming to mind, so eventually I started looking into employment details. Can't argue with the thing that keeps getting put in my face!

I can choose where I go, with my parents or if I want to stay with my grandparents again, but I also am buying a car once I get back home. (maybe in late August/September)

WARNING -  someone being mistreated by a community, not graphic or anything horrific

Today was hard. I had about 2 1/2 weeks where I was on my own, and now that all 3 brothers are here everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, is on edge and snappy. My mom is immediate to blame me or discipline me, when she refuses to discipline any of their cleanliness or how they shouldn't be provoking each other or speaking disrespectfully. My grandmother gets all high and mighty, even when I am trying to communicate my feelings healthily, because she "doesn't like it when I refer to things as mine". I had asked everyone to ask before using the groceries I bought with my own money and had stored separately with my name on in sharpie if it was in view.

My littlest brother acts like a drama queen, after I say one thing to him about not doing something, AND he still freaking sleeps with my mother. She has time to admonish me about not going into next steps whenever I am interacting with their mess, BUT she doesn't have time to tell her sons how to pick up a damn towel off the floor, or to take care of the clothes they take off, or how to put food back in the fridge immediately, or that they should flatten wet towels when they put them over a railing.

Rules matter when I don't follow them, but when they are going off about how they don't like things (like something being pushed into the back of your chair, or leaving the door open and the ac getting wasted) it's not something that they are told "they're being too much" about or "we all have to walk on eggshells around here".

I literally have asked them to not do things over and over and when I get upset when they do the things, it's MY fault for overreacting. Or when I'm simply stating information to correct my mom, it's attitude or talking back. I have feelings and a face, sorry that it offends you.

The middle brother had a seltzer can out of the container I bought, and my grandmother only asked about it AFTER he opened and poured it. But when I ask "Next time can you ask before using the food I'm buying", all of a sudden I'm the one being unnecessary. Not one person, but almost five different people start criticizing how I act with things that I've bought for myself.

I buy my own things so that when I want something or need to not feel neglected, I have something. Maybe it's a trauma response, but no you can't just eat the things that I buy for myself. I have days of hunger and periods when I force myself to eat two meals a day. I actually have told my mom this, but she's saying that "I need to be more selfless"

I got super overstimulated and triggered, because I'm working on food for tomorrow because we had no actual time yesterday and they were wanting me to be part of a conversation where they're trying to gaslight me into thinking I'm the bad guy.

And now I can't buy the food I need to, because I needed to sit in the bathroom and cry for 20 minutes. And of course not full streaming tears, but just heavy pants and silent tears.

This is why I feel so much lighter when I'm not constantly being pressured for 15 different reasons, and why I go back and forth with my emotions so much. I'm serving in a capacity at our childhood church, and have more things to do outside of the time we're there, but of course I'm required to go to beaches when I don't like swimming/sand.

Other thing that took up way more time today, was that we have a young adult within the community who's struggling with a lot; not exactly sure what and how it affects how he treats everyone else, and he felt very much neglected with how he wasn't communicated to clearly this past week. He's rumored to be a bit of a player, which I think/hypothesize comes from not having someone stable who cares for him verbally, and apparently is a terrible worker who doesn't do anything well.

I don't know what to think, but I think he needs someone who's really willing to challenge him and I don't know if he's had anyone who's determined + forgiving + compassionate + communicates healthily.

I picked up on weird vibes immediately, and realized that not only was he "demoted" from doing something substantial for the whole 3 hours of VBS; he wasn't asked any questions about the camera he OWNS and USED ALL WEEK last summer. The woman in charge just assumed that he would A: flirt with me, B: not be able to get pictures off of the NEW camera quickly, C: be able to work with someone else?, D: do a good job with anything else. He got moved off of games crew, assumedly because his buddies were there, or because something else is going, and then one person told him that my brother couldn't be helping him (with audio/visual, my brother did av for me the last two years and this guy has no desire/experience with actual av) but thanked said brother for helping [this guy]

He said it's been going on for two years, and what I heard from everyone else was that he "wasn't a good worker", "a ***" (According to the teens mentor, who I respect very much, but less now), "hasn't finished a single job ever", "a typical blonde", "a bit of a womanizer", and several other assumptions when things weren't done or done well. (sometimes because he wasn't there to do said thing)

I trust the adults here, they've known me since I was a baby or since before, but I was very uncomfortable with how they treat him. After hearing my mom talk to the teens mentor's wife, I had this intuitive feeling that something was wrong. If they treat him like a ***, or like a terrible worker, or a b*mb waiting to explode; he's going to be a ***, or a terrible worker, or he's going to explode. Of course, I understand that he's difficult to challenge, but he needs to be taken seriously and someone needs to try with 100% effort, before you just write him off.

He's had a rough childhood, yes, BUT that means he's had to do (and has to do) a ***-ton of growing and maturing in a short couple of years. So if he starts messing around with the "wrong sort of people" and not taking stuff seriously, maybe he learns from it. He is thinking about growth, even if he's being a little unaware. HE IS MAYBE 19, MAYBE EVEN 20, BUT HE IS STILL A FREAKING KID.

Usually young men don't mature as quickly as young women, and anyway we don't have our full brain development until we're 25. If you all are noticing him having a rough time, please just make sure that he knows that you are willing to challenge him and help him grow. Cause if he doesn't know that, and feels like he's being coddled or left alone OR if you just challenge him without the patience and humility to walk with him through it (and are prepared to withstand any storms), he will feel hurt and he will not want to join the group when he's treated like a threat.

He's mentioned leaving my childhood church several times, and apparently no one thinks that someone could actually help him grow or that he actually might have a serious side. he fully burn-d himself on a spotlight monday, and not only did he not act all tuff he collapsed into giggles. Like he-backed-up-about-20-feet-to-the-stairs-and-then-fell-on-the-ground giggles. We have a little balcony for our tech, and we did our best to hysterically giggle quietly, but my stomach hurt from laughing. But when I told the story "he probably did it on purpose".

Maybe he's a little silly, and acts dumb occasionally, (like seeing the words WARNING HOT and touching said hot object with his forearm), but you shouldn't be calling him a *** or a typical blonde, and you should definitely not be confining him to the humor coping mechanism of the young men of the age.

I had "professional" convos with him twice, both about the vbs details because we're the only people who don't really have a team leader and were supposed to be collab-ing on photography, and if you talk to him seriously and actually listen to him, he gets serious and acts "his age". Not once did he flirt with me after I made it clear that I am here to make sure things get done efficiently. He did hang around me, but maybe that's cause I actually asked him a question when he has the answers instead of assuming and I took him seriously.

I understand that the women in my life are worried about him corrupting me or whatever the *** they think he could do, but I fully saved my "ex" from su-cide for about 1 year or even 1 1/2 years. He has said so himself, and even though we're not in contact now we're both better for it. They could've been worried when I was struggling on my own, through my parents separating, or when I burnt out academically after having to homeschool myself, or even taking my anxiety and depression seriously. But no they choose to worry about me being a support for someone who's known to be struggling. I have several male friends that I have fully platonic relationships with, and several who I've cut off to be respectful of their inability to distinguish my friendship from flirting. And I did that all myself, with a bit of help of a platonic guy-friend, so I think I'll be able to handle someone who struggles with dating.

I am literally the best person to do so, as I am fully ace (at this point) and don't struggle with people looking "hawt" or "cute". I do struggle with eye contact, fun fact!, but if anyone could help and be a support to someone who's (I hate this, "a player") it might be me.

This turned into a bit of a rant, and I ended up calling my dad for an hour to ask for advice from a neutral party, but I just don't feel right about the whole situation. I know when I'm sensing stuff, after several situations where I was able to pick up on stuff, and this feels way more important than everyone makes it out to be. I've been paranoid on the whole "I'm the funny guy act" since said ex, but I do feel like it's one of my strengths. My therapist says I have a big heart, and I know that I do, but it's fully friendships that everyone makes out to be flirty. I care 200% for everyone, my coworkers, my friends, usually my family (/s); and I think he understands that. Am I perfect? *** no, but I am trying to be the best version of me.

I am anxious about asking more prying questions, but might wait to see how he responds to my last text. I got kinda paranoid about my text tone, as he sounded kinda testy "I understand", and expressed that I was feeling the bad vibes just as much as he was. And also tested the question waters, just saying "don't take my words for fact, because I don't really know what's going on" : which is 100% true, but also I'm only here for a month and haven't really interacted with him much. Hopefully he comes up with something that I can play off of and be a little more challenging rather than just empathizing.

Enough about me...🤣🤣🤣🤣 How's this past week been? How's your back feeling, and how are you feeling with everything with your sister? Sorry for the long post, but I needed to sit and type it all out before tomorrow morning. Sending light for you and your family, and praying that things stay "better-normal". 💜💖🫶

I am so glad that you took the time to type everything out. It really does help to vent a bit.

You are right to be frustrated with how your family is treating you over stuff you purchased. You are going to slowly be able to get more of that freedom from them over the next few years. I can see that freedom coming for you too.

But what I was most impressed by in your words was the care you showed for your workmate. I agree that you are making some accurate assessments of the situation. Your friend needs to be treated with respect in order to make good choices and you are doing that. I think one of the superpowers that depression and anxiety give you is the ability to be empathetic and really see what is going on in ways that others aren't paying attention to.

I am doing okay. I am back at mom's house with two friends today. We are doing more cleaning but I am slowly imagining that finishing might be possible. That would be a good thing. @StarrySkies1236

I spent about an hour typing that out and thinking, but then just sat with some music for twenty minutes, and let me tell ya…I felt physically lighter. And still do to some extend!

I think part of my frustration is just that it’s always me. Like whenever everyone piles on, it’s just me. But I definitely am looking forward right now.

When I care, I care hard. And I understand why people get frustrated, I do; BUT, it’s not about us. He is working through his own things, and might need people at different times in his life. It doesn’t really matter if they’ve had other times of helping him, we should be forgiving and helping not just a few times, but time and time and time again. That’s literally something that we believe is God-breathed.

And funny story, I’ve been doing phone swaps with our camp leader because she had me on photography. We (said guy and I) had planned to switch to the camera Tuesday, but he stopped coming in. So because she had the better phone for picture quality and storage capacity, I had her phone from 9:20-11:30 or even until 12:45/1:30, depending on what I needed to work on for slideshows. So she had given me permission to look at the texts she got, and I was running to find her when she got various calls. (Some were from her dad’s healthcare people) He ended up texting her while I was in the middle of a video, so after when I had a minute I checked it. Again she had me letting her know who needed what/what people needed. She had actually texted him something that was along the lines of ‘you better not be [doing the thing that he feels like he’s been judged about]’.

So I feel kinda guilty because he didn’t send that text to me, but she had given me permission so I don’t really feel that bad for that part. But on one side, he hasn’t really been responding to my texts so it’s not like we’re besties now and I’m keeping secrets, and on the other, I’m worried that I misjudged him and he just had a mask on (persona-wise).

And I don’t know if other people aren’t paying attention to him, or if they’re not noticing, or if they’re intentionally ignoring it. So again…IDK.

Good news is that if he is making some progress, he might be there tomorrow. And if not, I have to have a tough convo asking him if he even wants me trying to reach out to him. And I’ll ofc offer to be a safe place, but I need to know if he even feels like I’m supporting him through this.

I am also thinking that maybe I might come up to my grandparents earlier in the spring and try to spend some time really trying to make some better and long lasting memories.

I’m glad that things are going okay and that you have some people with you. Sending positive energy, peace and light, and as always prayers for you and your family. Hope that the cleaning goes on well and efficiently 💗💖🤍🫶🏻

I am glad that writing long helped. It can really be good for processing stuff. It takes it out of your head.

Whether or not you end up with a friendship or not, reaching out is everything. It is indeed what you are called to do - look out for the misunderstood and vulnerable and recognize them. I hope that your conversations go well.

We did get some stuff done on the house which was good. Dad is fading which is sad to watch, but sometimes all you can do is move forward. @StarrySkies1236

Yes, it helped a lot but still was feeling worried. I think that’s just part of me; being worried about the people I care for.

I think he’s just further behind me in growth, but I don’t regret being there or trying to be. I may have done a bad…I found his profile through a friend’s and realized that his birthday is the day before mine?? So I think we recognized a kindred spirit maybe because of that?

I keep cackling at the irony, but part of me wonders if anyone else put it together. 😂😂😂

I’m glad you can see progress!! I’ll be continuing to think of all of you, and you’ll be in my prayers with peace and light being sent your way. I hope you can just enjoy the time you have left with your dad, and that everyone is able to get along.

I’m getting places, but having to struggle against not being where I thought I’d be. So I’ll be here for, I’m sure, a while longer 😂😂

People are allowed to be quite different from you and on different paths. You are also allowed to care about the people around you. So you are doing what you are supposed to be doing. If stars align for something richer, then they will align.

I can understand wanting life and getting places to happen faster. I often wish for the same. But the wishing never seems to get me anywhere. And sometimes you just go backwards whether you want to or not. That's where I am at right now. Some possibly bad medical news is unexpectedly blocking the path ahead. Waiting is never fun, but I remind myself that things eventually shift. @StarrySkies1236

Well. I have returned.

Life has been crazy. No car as of now, and I have to make that decision separate from both my dad and my grandfather. We looked at a few, but the one we settled on has quite a few repairs needed, and my grandfather might take some convincing or I'll have to dip into my savings potentially for insurance.

Mom is still being insensitive and inconsistent. Not going to change any time soon, so I guess I will either move out and stay with my grandparents / find someone to rent with OR find a job closer to my dad.

I started wanting to go through my stuff, but apparently I'm not doing it fast enough? So now I have to stay up cleaning, after closing tonight and then I have to go into work at 8 tomorrow. I don't even know....Like I am throwing out/selling three bags of clothes, but she needs me to go through both the notebooks and school things/art supplies and do it "fast"

I told her that I'm literally going through my childhood, and she said "take a picture".

Like I work every day I'm with her, and now I'm starting to work an additional morning. I'm so sorry that I can't go through my entire room in two nights.

She takes my enthusiasm for it + throws it down a hole...

But I guess I have to do it all, or force my friend to cancel our hangout time (Which I asked her to ask off work for)

Hoping you had a better night than I did

I am sorry that you had such a rough day. It sounds like getting away from your mom in any way that you can would be a good idea at the moment.

I know what rushed sorting is at the moment and how overwhelming it feels. My house is filled to the brim with my parents' stuff and we go back next weekend to finally close down the house. Then we will have to do my father's room at assisted living. Dad died a week ago tomorrow. He was 94 so nothing unexpected, but it is still massively overwhelming to try to fit work and all of my parents' stuff into my schedule.

We will both get through this and into a next stage which will be better. @StarrySkies1236

Depending on what she says, I think I have a pretty good idea of what my living situation is going to be. So just have to deal with it now.

That sounds like so much worse, I’m sorry. You and your family all have a place in my heart, and I think of you guys. I hope that things will fall into some sort of order, and that you are able to find some semblance of peace in the weeks coming.

My new mantra (from a woman that runs a camp every summer) is ‘Just Keep Swimming’

So we do just that. We keep swimming. <3
