Finding a Purpose
The biggest problem I'm tackling with is that I have no dreams or goal. Everyday is just me trying my best to not fall into a negative thought cycle. It gets tiring after a while, since I have nothing to look forward to.
I have no friends, I'm not in a relationship, and I'm on bad terms with my family. In the past, I've ended up in abusive relationships because I was desperate for some kind of connection. I also switched careers hoping that I'll land on a job that'll give me a purpose, but that hasn't worked either.
I was wondering if others had to deal with this. How did you cope or solve this?
@wateryheart
I know how you feel it's very frustrating. I get the same way sometimes. I know I'm not happy now, but I don't know what would make me happier, I don't even have a direction! It feels like a tire spinning in the mud, all energy and no where to go. I don't know how to solve it but know you're not alone. I have found some relief by reminding myself of smaller joys. Once a day I find one thing I'm grateful for. Some days "I had a soda today" is the only bright spot I can find. But it's something.
I feel you.. I've been struggling all my life trying to find a passion or a purpose.. I've tried everything and usually nothing lasted long enough for me to feel satisfied or even accomplished. I'm also a huge people pleaser and that left me severely damaged after everyone took advantage of me and left me alone to fester in my anger and pain of their betrayal.. everyone.
I lost most of my friend and whomever I have left I rarely see or speak to.. I hide in my own shell trying to save whatever I have left of my mental capabilities.. I'm terrified of meeting new people.. and old people as well.. no relationship, no job, no passion or even motivation to do anything to change this horrible situation I'm in.. I'm saying situation because every once in a while I manage to get up and do something new in hopes anything would make sense and I can finally feel fulfilled and content but the matter of fact is I am so broken hearted and tired of everything, it's becoming harder for me to get up back again. But I will keep trying.
I would also like to know how others cope with this.
One thing I keep telling myself is: "I may not know what I want but I sure as hell know what I DON'T want and that's good enough!"
It helps me feel better to know that I am capable of choosing what not to go thru based on that. I even write down a list of these things every once in a while and usually during my difficult times of abuse and it does help tremendously.
All the love to you and hopefully we will find something truly worth living for.. just keep going. 😊
@rosasophia praying for you, it will get better! you have a good heart
@wateryheart a golden answer is when you get depressed, you can step out of your room and ask someone how can you help them, but that is a little hard to do sometimes...this music may also help you a lot, you can just play it in the background:
