How do you help someone with depression?

my friend has depression and self harms. How shall i help her stop cutting and she thinks shes worthless

I guess the best think you can do is offer her support, let her know that you're there and that you appreciate her and recommend her to get help from a professional :)

@cloudTraveler thanks x but shes really bad and we're going to different colleges so i cant always be thete for her

You be there for them. Don't force them to do anything they don't want to. Offer your ear as a listener because sometimes it's preferred over talking. Try not to push them into talking about it; they will talk when they're ready. Give them love and let them know you are right there if they need anything in the future. Do not talk down to said person, but encourage them with kindness and positivity. Remind them that the cause of depression may not be their fault (only when it's the case, like after an event triggered it).
