It depends and it's always an achievement to take some time out of your busy busy day to take care of yourself because you matter and you are important too!
-Here's a little challenge for you: Post your self-care routine below!
I'm excited and curious to get to know about your self-care routine

Today I took a nice bath and made a healthy yet delious breakfast
Today I let myself just stay home and read. It was relaxing
What the fuck constitutes self-care anyways? Wasting a weekend away doing weed and porno? A trip out of the country? Deciding what scented bath you? I get so confused.
Does anyone else feel undeserving of self-care?
@dwyelaunre i do, im a teenager that feels like she doesn't deserve any self-care, not from herself nor from anyone else. Part of why I think that is because I don't let people see that I want them to care, I act mean when I realize someone is trying to help me and I can't help but push everyone away. When I realize I was mean I try to stay away from anyone but that is really hard in my life because of a school with more that 300 students and a friend that cares a lot while I just push her away. Sorry if I wasn't any help ( I'm not good at being helpful), I just wanted to tell you that you are not alone.
@inventiveCity3468 I know this feeling, I'm crap at self care and have currently just got engaged as the rest of my life is falling to pieces and it's taking all of my might not to push my fella away
@inventiveCity3468 i appreciate you shared you story with us. Sometimes it is not easy to let people care about us. Nor to help even yourself. But with some work on it, you can start trying to change some patterns :) just want to encourage you :) or maybe starting on the other part, eg helping your friend with something can make you feel somehow
Self-care is important. As well as the care about others. There is a list which is barely a routine, but I am tryint to maintain all of those:
1. Breakfasts together with sb I like. Can be eating in my parents house sharing stories. Can be brunch with a friend. Helping my friend feeding her baby girl. Or just sharing a cattle of green tea.
2. Cooking. I just love it.
3. Eating something fast food when I don't feel that good sometimes betters my ming.
4. A nice talk. Or not that nice bugetting to a core helps.
5. Music. Energizes. Lately I am doing a 2019 mixtape of all the song that suddenly get stuck in my head. You know what I mean.
6. Sport. Love skiing. Recently gained my trainer licence. Teached kids for a while. The speed cheers me up. Walking. Running. Biking. Swimming. Endorfines. Then a wellness.
7. Friends that understand.
8. Collecting memories. Have my diary for history. Collect tickets and so and put it into date.
9. Movies and series. Like others have lives too.
10. Good sleep.
It's definitely important to carve out some time for yourself! I've found that my routine includes:
- video games
- listening to music (especially while busy, it helps me to relax while doing work)
- going on walks
- taking time to talk to friends
- participating in activities that I'm passionate about
Giving myself quiet, alone time. I am very introverted, but even if Im in a public place, going to a less busy area or private spot where I can have some peace and quiet helps me a lot. Also, listening to music, and journaling. Journaling helps lots because I have problems feeling disconnected from reality, so writing about my life make me feel more grounded and less forgetful.
For myself care I've been trying to do it daily. As soon as I wake up I do 10 to 20 minutes of meditation. I listen to Alexa tell me the Bible reading of the day. Then I take my shower I get ready listen to music or a podcast and get ready for work.
I've been working on having at least two full meals and two to three snacks today 3 bottles of water on my multivitamin to keep away the anxiety.
Then on the days that I get out of work early I go to the gym and free some stress. On weekends I've been working but when I'm not working we go out do some bowling or walk around if it's not too cold for me. I am working on taking one day to learn new things for my trainings and in the evening play Relax by the TV
The biggest routine for me is homework. Now I have found an interesting approach to this process and use cool platform to hire an expert for homework problems HelpHomework.net. Here you can do your homework online with a specialist. It's like tutoring, it's a lot cheaper.
I struggle with ADHD, and find that for getting stuff done (and to combat procrastination), I make myself a list every day of things to accomplish. Instead of making it a "you must do this" type of thing, I look at them as things I CAN accomplish today, rather than things I HAVE to accomplish. This also helps the little voice in your head that can sometimes tell you you're not worthwhile - you can say "HA. Not worthwhile? That's simply not true - look at all of these little boxes I checked off today"
Using checkboxes helps, because it creates a positive cognitive feedback loop (like mowing the yard - you can immediately see the progress / difference).
This has helped me so much with getting tasks I don't want to take on, done - that I've started a new list on the other side of my notebook each day: self care! On one side, I'll have stuff like "update resume" or "clean cat litter," and on the other side will be things like "Listen to music," "create something," "spend time playing with Maizy (cat)" - things that I enjoy doing, but may not stop and do without a reminder. Not only am I approaching my list for increasing discipline and productivity for my ADHD, but I'm also finding relief from daily anxieties, stresses and sad feelings, but actively doing things that make me happy (no matter how tiny) throughout the day.
I take care breaks do things i need to do for myself.
