Hi. I'm Kelly, this will be my first time posting to the forum. I've been living with depression for a very long time. I also have very bad anxiety. Every day is a battle, most days a battle I'm losing. I feel so alone and I came here to find people to talk to...

The title 'broken' describes how I feel right now. Everything seems to be going wrong and all the plastering I am doing over the cracks, they seem to be getting bigger and I don't know what to do next. Doctor put me on meds... I was told by family I was weak and shouldn't be on them. I stopped taking them and now feel worse (on reflection this was a bad idea). I truly don't believe they understand. I was also referred by the doctor to a help group who just advised me to feel better... Great advise but I just don't know how to at the moment. Any one got any words that can help?

Talking with someone can help a lot. You can talk a little about how you feel but you need to try and talk about different things to take your mind off the negative things. Also maybe watch a funny movie or something. I remember a listener on here one time sending me links to different videos on youtube. One of the videos they sent me was I nelieve called everyone should smile more. Watching all of the people smile may make you smile. Another video was a bunch of people dancing, I think it was called dance like nobody is watching. That video had me laughing at some of them and also got me to thinking about how stupid I would look because I cant dance. I also found when I talked to listeners, after talking about why I felt bummed, I would ask them if they were struggling with anything, theyre just like us. Also, if I didnt recognize the flag on their profile or even about a picture on their profile. I found talking about stuff like that, after a while I forgot why I was feeling bad and felt like the listener and I were old friends just having a conversation. Just a couple of my ideas, I hope they help yall a little bit.

Hi Kelly,I know exactly how you feel! I have also been depressed for a very long time. According to my doctor I also am bipolar with mixed episodes. My moods are all over the place. I'm sorry you are depressed. I wish I had answers for you. People who have never been depressed do not understand what it is like. I too am on meds. I take 5 different ones just to get out of bed. Stopping them isn't a good idea. You are not weak and I'm sorry your family feels you are. You are strong and brave to come here and reach out . I don't have a magic wand to make it better, I wish I did. I do understand how you feel and how difficult living every day with depression can be. You can talk to me anytime. I am in the same place as you are and will listen
