I've been with my boyfriend for a lot of my life and I don't even recall who I really am without him. Like I don't have an identity of my own and I'm not strong enough to build one myself because I'm not good at much. I can't do anything for myself and I feel hopeless and I can't even talk to anyone because all of my friends are originally his friends and I'm not even that close. Also I'm not good at making my own friends...

I can understand what you are going through. I was with my boyfriend for 6 years we just recently broke up and I now I suffer from depression and anxiety. But he was emotionally abusive. He was really jealous I couldn't talk to no guy without him getting mad he would tell me what to wear and where I could go. When we broke up I felt like I lost myself I felt like I didn't no who I was anymore. But now I'm trying to work on myself and lil by lil I'm getting better. You just need to learn to do things on you're own. If you are happy with yourself then you attract other people to you. Try make your own friends I know it's hard but just keep trying it gets easier

I know what you going through, I've been in two abusive relationships. And now I'm a signal mum with no friends, which makes me feel even worse as I want my son to mix with other children, his own age. I find it very hard to make friends, as I feel people don't like me. What makes it worse is the mental abuse I suffered in my relationships, as I feel if I was a likeable person then this would not of happened. I also suffer from depression and anxiety. Which makes my loneliness even worse. It's hard because I don't know how to get out of this whole and I don't want it to affect my son, so we do a lot on our own just so he doesn't miss out on too much.

It must be hard to be a single mom and be going through depression and anxiety. But you are not alone you have your son and he is your motivation to keep going. You must be really strong to be going through all of this on you're own. I think little by little by things will get better.

Thank you for your replies it's so nice to know I'm not alone and to hear from others that really do understand, and to pretend to understand.

I don't know if I'm a strong person I just know that I'm extremely lucky to have a son that has saved me. His my sunshine everyday and my reason to keep on going.

I don't know if I could put myself out there to make friends, I'm scared of there reject. I don't think I could take another "I'll txt you to arrange something with you" and the txt never comes. I just feel like people are just polite to me but don't really like me. Cause why else would they not contact me? I think I'm just coming to terms with that I am never going to have friends. I just don't want Chase to end up with no friends because the mothers don't like me. I'm really scared for him.

Thank you, your the first person that has ever said they are proud of me, in my whole life wow!

If it wasn't for my son I would not only be lonely I would be lost. Depression is hard to live with not only are you trying to live your life and piece it back together, Your learning to live with depression and anxiety, some days when i feel low and I don't have a real reason for it, I have to say to myself it's not me it's the depression, not that it makes me feel better it just stops me form driving myself mad, trying to justify the reason for the sadness. I know it may sound silly but I find this helps me to cope with my depression on day to day basis

Hi there,

Wow, this sounds just like me. I was with my BF for 10 years. didn't have friends of my own, they were OUR friends but was originally his. Didn't know who myself was without him. When he left me, i was so alone. I was so sad, to the point where i didn't want to be here no more.

I found this site, that really helped. But also you have to remember that if you want things to change, you have to get out there! I know its hard, believe me. I'm now going back to college to redo my exams, so hopefully will meet some people there. I found talking to my GP helpful as they recommended some things for me to do and other people to talk to.

Also, eventually, you will find getting to know yourself pretty fun! I'm now redecorating my bedroom to my own tastes! PINK EVERYWHERE :D

I do hope you find happiness again. Just get to know yourself, you WILL be fine. I promise.
