Alone again

For the past several years after a harsh breakup, when i was in high school, my emotions were in pause and was just living in a world with no emotions, just the feeling of being alone and hopeless. Months later when i started college i met a guy who i really fell in love with and the time i spent with him was so amazing, everything was so good! I could finally feel genuine happiness, my anxiety was still bad but bareable. But everything crumbled just recently when him and i broke up....and i feel like the whole world collapsed on me....i feel so alone, helpless, and so very sad again. At this point i don't know what to do anymore... :/

Breakups are a tough gig@discreetAcres444.

It takes time to adjust to life again without a partner.

I hear what you are saying and the numbness is understandable. I think this is really normal.

Give yourself a pat on the back for opening up to others by posting and for recognising the way you are feeling.

Well, you see. You're simply trying to fill a hole in your heart every time you date somebody.

Observe that the happiness being in a relationship gives you is temporary. They will never ever stay with you for ever (death too can snatch them away if you don't believe me).

So once you and that person separate, you have to face that feeling of loneliness once more. The very thing you ran away from. Once again you'll date someone, try to cover it up, and once again later you will find yourself alone. In all this, have you tried to understand where your loneliness stems from? The source of it? Till you establish a good relationship with yourself, until then happiness will not follow you like a shadow.

I know exactly what you're going through. It's was very hard for me to get into a romantic relationship due to my anixety and trust issues and it took me a really long time to build up the courage to do so again. My most recent boyfriend was so good at breaking down my walls and helping me cope; and I was really doing well for a bit, but the epidemic put a lot of strain on our lives, and he decided to take the opportunity to move away on me. He didn't want a long-distance relationship so we just recently had to break up and it's been so hard. It feels like all of my worst fears are coming true these days, and I feel so alone, so helpless and desperate; and worst of all he doesn't seem to be as broken up about it as I am. Unfortunately I don't have much in the way of advice for how to handle this, but know you're not completely alone.
