Am I still depressed
So I have a counselling session soon because I have been having depressive symptoms.
My partner has depression anxiety and PTSD so I have been looking after her as she has been in a bad way and starting medication ect.
Because I have been focusing on her I haven't been feeling as bad and feel like I may be waiting the counsellors time if I go.
Or have I just pushed it all back, I have also been co sidwring anti depressants but don't know if I'm "depressed enough"
Confused.
Hello. It's really great to hear that you've been feeling better lately! It's also wonderful to hear that you're helping your partner with depression/ anxiety / PTSD. Thank you for looking out for her :)
It's hard to say whether or not you've fully 'recovered' or are in remission from depression. For some people, managing depression is a constant, life-long thing, where they may need to continue medication/ therapy even when they're having no symptoms in order to maintain good mental health.
You could consider letting your therapist/ doctor know that you'd like to reduce your treatment (perhaps still seeing them regularly but less frequently) and of course, letting them know that you'll contact them again if you feel like your symptoms are getting worse. It is OK talk to your therapist about it and working on slowly reducing to see how you fare.
I really hope you are indeed well enough to reduce treatment completely! Best of luck.
