Antidepressant tapering and withdrawal support?

Hi guys :)

I was wondering. I myself am struggling with antidepressant withdrawal (I feel like having a flu - sore throat, achy muscles, headache, confusion, lowered mental capacity etc.) if there is something like support here on 7Cups for people who chose to stop taking antidepressants.

Note : Please do not stop taking your medication if not discussed with a doctor who prescribed you that medication or with any other competent person (like other psychiatrist etc.)and thoroughly follow their advices and guidenance.

But for some people this is ideal scenario that they cannot follow. Some people do not simply have money for their medications or psychiatrist told them to "F themselves" (no jokes intended, this happened to me, not any other doctor who can prescribe me my meds anywhere near)

I suppose here on 7Cups isn't anything like that available so I would be very glad if you guys, those who are going through this hard process or any person who has experience with this. Doesn't matter if personal or not, could provide some insight into what helped you cope with relapse, discontinuation syndrome or any other struggle that this may bring.

I myself found that it is easier to overcome when I think about it not as illness (like flu) but as discontinuation of chemical my brain was used to and that I am not infected by anything. Symptom suppressant therapy is also beneficial. :)

Some antidepressants are harder than others to taper off. Like any drug, there is going to some level of withdrawal effects associated with it. Some herbs and medications can help ease the withdrawal, but you'd have to ask a doctor what is safe and going to be useful. In my experience, you have to be more aware of yourself and your behavior towards other people for the foreseeable future. You just have to endure the pain of the withdrawal and catch yourself when you want to say something rude or negatively reactive to someone else. Yesterday, I thought I was going to get fired at work because I was so cranky, for which I attribute to a new medication.
