Apathy Creeping into Dating and Social Stuff

I wasn't sure if this belongs in the Relationship and Friendship forum or here, but considering this applies to other things outside dating I thought it best to post my thoughts here.

So one of the things I've realized about my depression is that it's made me apathetic towards everything. I'll still do my regular hobbies, but I won't feel positive or negative about it. This doesn't ring any alarms for me because I'm familiar with this feeling by now in regards to everyday life. But now I think the apathy is creeping into dating and social gatherings in general.

The dating part I feel has been going on for about two years. I had a nasty breakup and it messed with my head a lot. I hooked up with someone a year later, but I didn't feel any particular way about the guy. It was almost like I was going through the motions a little bit. I wrote it. I wasn't fully aware of my depression yet, so I wrote it off as me still not being over the breakup.

This past summer, I decided to start dating again, but that same feeling of just not caring about anything popped up again. Maybe it still is just a sign that I haven't fully gotten over my last serious relationship, but not feeling any particular way towards a simple social interaction worries me a little. Is this me losing whatever confidence I had in dating or is my apathy towards life much worse than I thought it was? Is it normal to feel this way?

I'd like to break out of this attitude, so any tips or advice about this is appreciated.

@lcabic12

I'd say if you haven't already please see your doctor. It's important that you get help for apathy. Although it doensn't ring alarm bells for you, it could lead to more troubling behavioural changes 🙁 How are you doing since posting this? I hope better.
