A rant of sorts

I’m so completely drained. My zeal to succeed, to do well. It’s all gone. I keep telling myself that tomorrow I’ll wake up and do better but it’s like since the beginning of 2020, my life has been on a downslide. I’m so tired. So tired. I’ve been sleeping a lot. Eating a lot. I feel numb but I also feel a lot of sadness and sometimes get happy but my paranoia won’t let me stay happy. I hate that I’ve become the way I am. I can’t escape myself . I feel so broken.

Hello!

I am not a doctor and cannot diagnose you - however I wanted to respond with some supportive feedback.

I would recommend you see a doctor. Sometimes we have a vitamin deficiency or something else which can cause these symptoms and we don't realise it's as simple as adding a vitamin or changing our diet. Also, however, sometimes it can just be depression - in which case your doctor will be able to provide support here as well.

Feeling stuck and being stuck are two different things - and I want us to acknowledge this difference together. Are you really stuck? Can you still physically control your body? Can you still make choices of your own free will?

You're feeling stuck, and feelings come from thoughts. You may be low on energy and your body is working extra hard to function because of a vitamin deficiency (for example - I cannot diagnose you haha) but then your brain has a thought about it. Maybe you think:

This is never going to end
Im just broken and cant get over this sadness
I can't escape this feeling

These thoughts create feelings of sadness, pressure, depression, exhaustion, anxiety?
I mean - think "this is never going to end, I'm stuck" and feel what happens in your body .... what do you feel?

I imagine it doesn't feel good, and you are stuck in a loop:
I'm stuck --> feels depressed --> eating junk food/ sleeps/ procrastinates etc --> "see, I'm just broken and stuck" --> feels depressed --> eating junk food/ sleeps/ procrastinates etc --> "see, I can't escape" ... and so on and so forth.

But you can break this loop. What if you choose to think a new thought?
"I'm stuck.... and that's just a thought I keep having, but it's not a fact"
"I am broken... is just something my brain tells me, but is that thought kind, helpful or even a fact?

You can also break the loop at the action point
I like to use the "can I just" technique
Can I just have a glass of water before I go to sleep this time?
Can I just wait 5minutes before I watch all the TV shows
Can I just do this task for 2 minutes only and then see how I feel?

I hope some of this helps - but also, sometimes you don't need advice - you just need to rant. So good work coming here and finding a place to let it out! I think it's so important to give praise when someone is insightful and resourceful enough to reach out. Keep coming here - you are important and valued and capable.
