I never really feel joy or hapiness, but my brain keeps telling me I don't have depression that's for people that go through way worse things then I have. Yet I still have sessions in which I cry in bed until I can't cry anymore.

It's a common misconception that depression only happens to those who have been through hardships.

The truth is that it affects people from all walks of life, of all genders and ethnicities.

You could have the best friends, best grades, a loving family and be filthy rich and still get depression. AND it does NOT make your depression any less valid if you are lucky or privileged.

You're absolutely right that your brain realizes you don't really have anything to be sad about. That's the nature of depression, that it will make you feel sad for no reason, and it really sucks.

if you'd like to take control, feel free to see a doctor and start beating your depression!
