Christmas?

I just can't deal with Christmas this year. My partner keeps saying I should just take a deep breath and get the tree up. I can't. My friend committed suicide in November and his funeral is next week. My step grandfather passed away last Saturday. I get depressed anyway at this time of year but this year is the worst.

All I see is posts about people's beautiful trees and houses. I can't go to the shop for food let alone presents.

I haven't left my bedroom for days and all I do is cry. I just don't want to do Christmas this year.

Does anyone else feel like this? Am I just being unreasonable?

@Mylittletotoro

You are not being unreasonable. It's traumatic to deal with someone who has killed themselves and another relative that has passed on. It is natural to feel grief. It is unnatural to force yourself to be 'merry and jolly' when you need time to grieve. It might be helpful to tell your significant other that you are feeling very sad about the recent deaths. Ask him or her to put the tree up. Maybe just explain that it's going to take a little time to process the deaths, and when you're feeling better you can resume Christmas (or New Years if grieving takes that long).
