Daily Battle

Everyday It’s a battle to get out of bed and start the day. There’s always a few minutes where I consider staying in bed and shutting out the world, but then I think about my son and what he would be left with if I gave up. Without him I wouldn’t still be in this world, choosing to get out of bed everyday. I wish I’m there was a way to make it easier and take the weight off so I’m not fighting a full on battle before I even start the day. It’s exhausting!

@butterfly2010

Relatable experience. Feeling empty of energy to start and day. As if my body and soul have been deprived from years of rest! I wish i could really help you out, just sharing one or two things that worked for me

Working on my quality of sleep

Making it a habit to wake up at the same time, everyday. (Taking naps later, if it gets too exhausting)

Meditations before sleep hours. Making sure to go off gadgets , atleast an hour before sleep

Having a music devise in my room to play nature sounds, at a very low volume, when insomnia used to hit hard.

Hope you can find your way!

@butterfly2010, o yeah, I relate with that so much! Getting up in the mornings is really tough for me, too. My body feels heavy and dread is slowly creeping into my mind when I am starting to think about the day ahead of me.

Instead of fighting it, I allow myself to lay down in bed for 10 minutes more (you can set alarm early to account for that), but I had to engage in some activity. Like watching a short morning meditation video (or cat video on youtube) or doing a crossword or reading one page from a book or listening to one song. I don't know if it will work for you, but for me starting a day with some simple activity that is not connected to the whole "gosh, it is workday again" routine distracts me enough and make it easier to gather strength to pick myself from the bed and start my day.

Also, I want to say how a good parent you are. Struggling with depression is already hard enough when you do not have to provide for anybody else. I am proud of how much you try to take good care of yourself and your family. You are brilliant and I hope you yourself appreciate your own efforts.

Thank you for reaching out to us, lovely. Keep going *hugs*

Feel this as well except my dread is the night before as well. Find myself trying to put off going to sleep in a vain attempt to put off work the next day. Would just be nice to have 1 or 2 good days.

It's literally a battle to just get up. I know what you mean. Somedays just taking a shower and brushing my teeth is a success. Some days I create in the kitchen or behind the bar. Some days I settle for taking a shower. I'm just trying to learn to love me
