Depressed 🙂

Hi all, I’m just feeling depressed currently. I want to talk to my therapist about it but I guess I’m scared to talk about it. I have had some recent things in my life that have made it worse but I’ve been dealing with like a lower-level depression for a while. It’s hard to talk about but I feel like I really have to face it and be honest about it.

Life has been pretty hard for me lately. I think my job is the main source of stress for me right now. I’m just feeling pretty exhausted and stressed out. Very tired. I find it hard to talk about my depression but I want to open up about it and be more honest about it so that people know what I am going through. I just wanted to share all this. Thanks for reading.

I really feel for you and I wish you well in being able to talk about how you are feeling. One thing for sure is that your therapist cannot read your mind, so open up, even if you say you're going to find this hard to talk about, I would hope they would be very very supportive.

Also if you feel work is stressing you out are your employers supportive? Could there be anything that they could do to help it not be as stressful?

All the best

My employers don’t really know what I’m going through because I’m not very open about it. I’m just really stressed out and wondering if I should take a leave to focus on my mental health or something like that. I’ve been so exhausted.

I want to talk to my therapist about my depression and I think I should do that in my next session. I’m sure he talks to people about their depression all of the time so I think I should just open up and be honest with him. I’m scared but honestly I should probably be more scared of not opening up to him? Like I’m just having a hard time over here and not really sharing it with anyone 😅

I’m not even sharing it with my girlfriend really because she is depressed and I don’t want to stress her out even more. ☹️ It’s just been a hard week 😕😕

@eumesmo

What is it do you think that you are scared of? What do you think will happen when you tell your therapist? What do you think will be hard for you?

I actually ended up talking to him a bit about it and it went okay. I also talked about my girlfriend’s depression as well. But I guess my fear is mostly that my therapist would report my depression or feel that I am a risk to myself or something like that. I know that therapists are mandatory reporters in my country so if they feel like someone is a risk to themselves then they have to report that to the police.

I don’t think I am a risk to myself and I don’t think I would say anything to a therapist that would make it seem like I was a risk to myself but my fear is that they might misinterpret my words or freak out or report me just to cover their butt because they didn’t want to engage with depressive thoughts or ideas.

But anyways I think that is my main fear.

I understand life can be tough. Don't forget to be grateful for what you have; I believe small efforts can make a big change in the long run ♥️
