Depression and exhaustion

June 6th, 2019

Hello everyone!

I have a simple question for you guys that perhaps someone could help me with. As I've discovered that I am indeed a sufferer of depression, I've noticed certain characteristics that come along with my depressive episodes. One of them namely is exhaustion. Before I was able to properly determine that depression was causing these symptoms and not some other condition, I spoke with my doctor and ruled out other possibilities like a vitamin deficiency. I had a full blood panel done, and besides being mildly anemic, there seems to be no other reason for my extreme exhaustion. The problem is, how do I fix it? I find myself falling asleep at any opportunity where the room is quiet for a few minutes. My energy levels are really non-existent. I have to drink coffee in the morning just to function at all, otherwise, I can even leave my bed for more than a couple of hours. I'm finding it hard to hold a simple conversation with others and it feels like all I want to do is be by myself, alone in my room. This poses a terrible situation since I am disabled and due to my disability, struggle with medical conditions that I need to be seen by specialists again to help me. These situations are getting worse and worse, to the point where I can't even properly take care of myself.

Do you guys have any suggestions on how to combat this exhaustion? I'm at a loss of what to do...

Thanks for the reply. I've been diagnosed with depression and told by medical professionals that my exhaustion is due to it. It is indeed complicated though, that I can agree with. My purpose for the post is asking other fellow sufferers what they do to cope with their depression and the exhaustion that comes with it.
