I've been wondering, do I have depression? I feel flat almost all of the time, I feel empty a lot. I have no energy some days and I'm usually sad, even if it's not crying all day sad, for seemingly no reason. Do I have depression or not?

@Aeron583

Have you seen if your symptoms matched the symptoms of depression? If so, it's best to seek medical help. I hope things get better for you and hopefully your life takes a better turn <3 <3

I am not a doctor but I suffer from major depression among other things and apparently it sounds like it...

However, best thing to do is to elliminate physical factors and have a full checkup and analysis if you can afford them (many diseases or parasytes cause lethargy and apathy which are not depression). After eliminating the physical factors then you might think of depression yet it may just be a normal mood in life...people have mood periods sometimes which is totally normal...

My appologies, I did not notice you were a teen, not depression but just hormonal classic teens, we all felt tired (even studies found teens needed more rest and sleep, I slept for 1/h hours after coming back from highschool and slept untill 14:00 in the weekend) and emotional...hormones haywire 😊, the teenage times are such...

Teen or not. Teenage depression is a real thing that affects many to this day. What happens to teens are many adults brush it off as "normal" and we don't get the support we often do need in time. I would say make an inquiry about it and don't let adults say "it's normal" when you should at least get some help in order to guide your brain in the right direction regardless if it's normal or not. Never deny help because you think it's too normal. Get out there so you can improve and have a healthy future ahead of you as good as you possiblity can. Reach out to somebody. You deserve all the best kid.

That is true, I just tried to avoid allarming and first look to eliminate other causes like physical illnesses, hormonal or age specific stages but what you said is true and I agree, investigate while it is incipient...and yes, "adults" tend to brush it off...

Myself, I suffer from major depression and bipolar and alot of other things...I just wished somehow in me that they woukd be spared depression...

Wish you well...

Many teens resort to use of alcohol or substances to get them out of the teen "tiredness"...sad...it has to be explained to them that it is a phase in life, some are natural ebergetics, some are melancholic but a german study showed teens are feeling tired and need extra rest and in some countries they changed school schedules to start at 9:00 instead of 8:00 for highschools...

Teen depression comes from highschool burden overload (each teacher hands their homework without thinking the poor kid has also so many other subjects that hand down homework), uncertsinty of tge future (what am I going to do with my life), family environment and social environment...

That poor kid, on top of natural hormonal transfprmation is overwhelmed and falls into depression and all it wants is to sleep and no longer give a darn about everything...

Very sad imdeed...
