Embarrassed

I have to see my dentist this Saturday and I don't want to go. I've been seeing him for probably a decade and every time I see him he asks how my schooling and studying and job search is going.

I'm just so embarrassed of having to go in and tell him I failed again. He's seen me go through two career paths already and I really just can't stand telling him now I've failed at my third.

I know its irrational but its really just causing me to freak out.

Hi, I'm just a member, and it sounds like you are really having a bad time. Its not irrational as your feelings are real. You could try to reach out to a listener through the browse listeners which may help. If your dentist does ask, you do not need to tell them every detail, you are in control, you could just say that you have moved on from that situation, you don't need to explain why and don't feel pressurised in doing so. Try to steer the conversation to focussing on what your hopes for the future in your new situation is, no need to converse on the past. You could also try to bring the conversation back to the present by asking a generic question such as, how long do you think it will take today or even asking if the dentist has a busy day today, etc. Good luck at your appointment and peaceful wishes.

@writerchick88 I can relate with you!! You're not alone. crying Family and friends are checking up with me. Like you, I'm scared to tell them what's going on, especially to my aunts and uncles. I want to catch up with them but I just wish they won't ask. But, I just tell to myself, that I am a work in progress and I must continue to go on. We must not lose hope! wink

@hopefulRainbows30 You're right! We must not lost hope. Life is hard indeed, no one says it's easy! But it's going to be okay. Slowly yea, but surely, everything will work out in the end! We just need to believe in ourselves and have faith!
