Epilepsy and Depression
I wasn't sure where to put this. I'm an epileptic and I have been struggling to function with the recent realization of how quickly mind is fading. My type of seizures are called "Absence Seizures", where I mentally "check out" and the body goes on auto pilot. Once it's done, I can't remember what happened within however much time has passed.
I believe this is also effecting my every day activities especially when talking to people. I can never seem to assemble my words properly or I cannot control my speed and filter. Everything comes out at an odd pace, sometimes too fast and I say more than I wanted to or vice versa.
I don't know what will happen to this scattered mind at this rate and that Is why I wish to escape. This is why I appreciate sleep. That is the only quiet time I have and I'm not even awake to enjoy it. But alas, even that time is scarce since I suffer from insomnia, a side effect of the past dozens of meds I've gone through.
I just want the quiet, but I also want my time.
Hi, I'm an epileptic as well and although I suffer from bipolar depression I still suffer from depression, because seizures affect our brain they can in fact affect our motor skills which does have a huge affect on ability to remember things as well as move about and do things we can forget things easily and it can make it hard for us to form a sentence that will allow us to actually converse with others.
Sleep is a sense of escape for you and I think that's actually awesome but for some that's not so as many epileptics symptoms are severe and often have seizures so severe that they randomly come on in our sleep and we stop breathing that's a downfall, sleep can be a weakness and a pleasure for us epilepticso.
Have you tried mentioning the daily activities situation with your doctor? All in all I'm glad that sleep is a forum of escape for you. 😊
