Feeling alone and without friends now

I feel kind of like crap now. 😞 This last year has been rough in terms of friends passing away, or moving away to other jobs or neighborhoods.

Sometimes, it seems like nobody really understands. Ive got no one. Everything I seem to say lately just makes people mad, and people just want to be passive aggressive with me for no reason. 😢

I give up. I dont know what to say or do anymore ... just feeling really down right now. 😢

Thank you all for the replies & support thus far! 👍

I think as long as we all support each other here on 7 Cups on the forums and feeds, well be fine. 🙂

Its true that last night, on a thread in another forum, I misunderstood a post to me as being sarcastic or passive aggressive when it wasnt meant to be, and I was still feeling very tired from the previous workday as well as left behind because of my good friends moving on. I still can keep in contact with them but long-distance friendships can be a challenge to maintain. Anyhow, with that misunderstanding on the other thread, I also felt like I didnt have enough time to think out my reply and post it before being told I was not following my own rules (That post was sent to me as I was still writing my reply).

Thank you all for your time and support! 🙂👍

I know, its really hard when friends move on to other schools, neighborhoods, jobs, etc. and its a challenge to keep in contact with them.

I want to text my friends who recently left my workplace but at the same time, I also want to give them time to get used to their new jobs.

I also deal with social anxiety, so its really a challenge for me to approach people at times. Thank goodness for 7 Cups and MeetUp! 👍🙂

something Im also constantly thinking about is social anxiety. I have the same thing about finding it hard to approach people. I dont know whether I have it and I dont want to self diagnose but I feel like I cant approach anyone about it. How did you know and what did you do?

I was officially diagnosed last year but I always suspected I had these issues before then. The big breakthrough for me came later last year during therapy when my therapist suggested trying MeetUp and signing up to go to events that Im interested in. I think its really helped me overall. 👍

However, work has gotten really busy and stressful lately and there also hasnt been any meetup events of interest planned lately until this upcoming Saturday.

it is so easy to feel alone. i've also been struggling with instense feelings of loneliness the past several months.

I've never really had a group of friends before so findinig little things like people online who feel the same way can go a long way in making you feel less alone.

does anyone have any practical tips for what to do when feeling lonely?

@sunnyVillage774

My therapist last year suggested Meetup, and Ive capitalized on that suggestion. I can sign up, for example, to a drinks-and-dinner event at a hole-in-the-wall restaurant ... and then just go. 🙂 Its easy to do this in Chicago (or other big cities) but some suburbs have meetup groups, too. 👍

However, my work schedule has been very busy lately and some of those coworkers who have gone to other jobs are my work friends, so I dont have them to go to lunch with and talk to at work anymore. There also isnt a meetup event scheduled for me to attend until next Saturday, and there wasnt anything scheduled last week.
