Feeling worthless
I'm struggling with feeling worthless right now. I just started to take steps to address my depression, but I feel like my relationship with my partner is very challenging right now, too. In my mind it seems like this is the source of my feelings of worthlessness. But I'm having trouble sorting out how I percieve the situation. I say things to myself like, "If I wasn't worthless, then why did he nag at me the whole time we were on vacation last year?" and "If I'm not worthless, then why did he make the trip to his family's house all about how stressful the drive was for him, even though my grandma passed away that day?". These thoughts of course make the situation worse, but it's hard to tell if this is the depression talking, or my relationship. Thanks for listening.
There are no worthless people. It's impossible for you to be worthless. It is possible to have thoughts that deny your worth. Those thoughts feel bad because they go directly against the very nature of your being, which is worthiness.
It sounds like your husband isn't treating you with the respect and worthiness you deserve. But it doesn't make you a worthless person. In your examples it's his behaviour that doesn't do justice to who you are.
If you exclude you being worthless as a possible reason for his behaviour, what other explanations come to mind?
