Getting serious help

Hello, I'm kinda new here. And I'm really anxious about talking to people about my problems, not to mention I'm not sure where to even start. I've tried finding a listener a few times, but I've never been able to get through to one. They are always busy.

I know what I really need is professional help. But I don' know where to start. I've 35weeks pregnant and the only insurance i have is through Medicaid and they won't cover mental help. I'm not yet married to the man I call my husband due to complications, so I can't be put on his insurance. (Its a really weird stituation). Our rent was recent raised over $100, so we are living paycheck to paycheck.

I don' know how to find a therapist who is affordable enough to help. I know there are some free clinics, but they are over an hour away and I can't drive that far.

I just feel so alone, lost, and scared. And everyday is getting worse. Aside from my husband I have nobody to talk to. Literally. No family that will listen, and no friends what so ever.

Today it's so bad I'm having contractions and throwing up from the stress of it. I have bad PTSD and most everything associate with with. I'm not suicidal, but worried about about my state while being pregnant.

@Lillyblakely Oh, I'm so so sorry you're dealing with all this. It sounds incredibly overwhelming, and I'm glad you're here.

*Listeners - Have you tried going through the general request queue? It can take a wait, but the people who are available to chat will select you. (I'm also available, though I might have to do some offline schedules. Or we can schedule a live chat. Feel free to DM me.)

*Medicaid definitely DOES cover mental health, you just may need to push a little harder for it. Talk to your social worker or primary care physician and they will help/refer you. (Or SHOULD help you. Be very honest about your symptoms.)

Again, I'm glad you're here.

@Alia3475 With Medicaid, I've sat with my social worker crying to the point I could bearly breathe. Trying to explain. And she told me since I'm older than 21 with no disabilities, I don't qualify in the state of Texas. And "if you are really that worried, you should go check yourself into to a psyche clinic for the help you need." Then proceeded to rush me out the door so she could go to lunch. I know this cant be right. But i don't know what to do. It'. Not like I can yell and scream and force someody to listen. If they dont want to help, they arent going to. I've even talked with my obgyn to see what could be done. And he basically told me he could refer me, but Medicaid would still have to qualify me. I know I'm being given the run around. And it's very frstrating that nobody is taking this seriously. I've even been trying to get on mental disability for years now with no luck.

@Lillyblakely That is really frustrating. The way it worked for my mother was she got the referral, and then the psychiatrist sent the information that qualified her for payment.

I have some tools that have helped me, during times I haven't been able to get therapy. You can message me to talk about those, or just to have someone to talk to.

Hello and welcome to 7 cups. Thank you for reaching out, it's very brave and responsible of you to seek whatever help you can get. I'm sorry to hear you're struggling with your mental health and it is affecting your pregnancy. I hope that joining the General Requests queue can help you find a listener (sometimes we get very busy and it may take a few minutes for a listener to get around to you. I highly recommend using Noni to pick the rough topic you'd like to talk about as some listeners prefer to know what topic you need before picking up requests).

While this isn't the same as finding a professional or a listener to talk to, I hope that some of the self-help guides can teach you techniques which can help you manage your symptoms (they are often similar to the kinds of exercises that may be lead/ taught to you by professionals). It will take time, but with practice they may help reduce some symptoms. If you're interested, here is the link: https://www.7cups.com/supportGuides/selfHelpGuides.php
