Hello everyone, im depressed about my life because of drugs
ok so i feel like im the only one out there who has not done drugs, im 21 and never tried drugs till i was about 19, i just did once, was just curious, but today, a lot of teenagers do drugs, and when i was a teen i never even thought of doing drugs, cuz i felt nervous to do them, and people around me kept on saying not to do them or ill ruin my life, but whats honestly making me so depressed is, that i get so depressed when i hear that a lot of teens do drugs, like i feel so bad about myself, i feel like a loser cuz i did not do drugs when i was a kid/teen, i just wanna know if there is anyone out there who have had a similar life like mine? i wanna feel like im not alone atleast, cuz right now i feel abnormal and so alone to be the only one who has not done drugs when i was a teenager and still im 21, and have done it once only and it was not that great, anyways, i just wanna know if im truly alone or not...
@jumanji444 I don't know in what country you live in, but in my country it's actually pretty rare to find people doing drugs, whether it's someone under 18 or older. In my school, there are not more than 10 people who have tried or are still on drugs. I hope I will never have to try drugs. Can't you see how miserable it makes people? It's not worth it what so ever, just to fit in. If I was you I would reconsider the people I hang out with. Maybe get some better friends? If someone is forcing you to try it or trying to make you feel bad about yourself, just leave. It can and probably will ruin your life, especially if you have other mental issues. Just please, stay away from drugs. That's my advice.
@jumanji444 Oh my dear you should be so proud of yourself! When I was a teenager, way back 15 years ago, I was pressured into doing drugs and I didn't stop until I was 27. I ruined my senior year in high school b/c I was more concerned about being cool, boys, and partying. I screwed up college twice. Now I am almost 32, a mechanic, and hopefully going to be a mother. When I was 26, I was pregnant, but still doing drugs and had a miscarriage 5 mos later. I tell you my story b/c I do not want you to get involved w/drugs. You are young and have a long life ahead of you. Go to school, follow your dreams, and make something out of yourself. Drugs is the worst thing you could do.
I myself never did drugs as a teen. However, I understand the peer pressure as people have tried me to get to drink alcohol even though I don't drink for moral/ religious reasons. It is hard standing out, but try to see things from another perspective. You don't have to deal with addiction, and your body is better off.
Ultimately, what you decide to do is your choice, but you are not alone! Plenty of people are in your shoes. Stay strong, and please reach out to me or other listeners if you ever need someone to talk to. :)
Hello! I'm psychology student and this year I'm working with addicts.. I'm learning a lot.. sometimes people do not find anything else that give them pleasure in life. But remember that exist other people who can listen and help in this difficult moments.
Everyone makes different decisions, but resisting peer pressure is nothing to be ashamed of! Sex, drinking, doing drugs, are all activities that you have the choice when and if to engage in. You are not a 'loser' because you chose not to :)
