Hopeless for the Future
Hello. Before I start, I think it's important to note that I also struggle with GAD and a phobia. So... I feel crippled in my life, like I literally can't do things. I'm at a crucial point in my life where I should start branching off and being independent, but my anxiety gets so bad that I can't even begin to tackle the issues. Then I sit and think about the situation... my life and how I'm so scared of changing it. I start to spiral. What if I never live the life I want? Achieve the things I want to achieve? What if I have these exact feelings for the rest of my existence and am miserable forever? I used to rely on the future for change. One day, I'd think, things will be different. But its been so many years and I feel like everything is exactly the same. Making a change falls on my shoulders, it won't magically happen, but I'm still too crippled with anxiety to make any notable changes. It makes me think that I'll always be in this exact position, with nothing ever changing, and I start to feel hopeless. I start to feel like ending things is the best way. How do you cope with these feelings?
Hey, i relate to you! whenever my thoughts are spiraling down i try to get up and get a glass of water. it would obviously better to meditate or exercise, but that just isn't the reality for some people with depression. i get a glass of water, just to get away from the space i was in when i had those bad thoughts, and then i distract myself for a while, until I am ready to do an honest reality check. i have to stop being dramatic first. it normally is when i am in therapy. i think to myself, is my life better than nothing? yes. why not try out whatever you want and stop taking life seriously, it's a one time thing and before just skipping your trial, use it. do whatever you want and can do. then i ask myself what do i want to do and how? i feel overwhelmed at this point almost every time, but after a while i decide i want to cuddle my cat for a while or something like that which doesn't really need anything to be able to happen. then i just go from there. that is how i deal with it. anything is better than nothing. try, even if it's not perfect, it's better than nothing. (I'm not there yet, but that is what i want to think)
