How do I deal with body dysmorphia (or similar)
For 10 years now (Im 19) I have thought myself to be ugly. I can pick apart every piece of my body I hate. Someone told me today Im really attractive and showed me a picture where I had makeup and a push-up bra (I mention it because she said I had perky boobs). I almost cried then and there because its a lie. I see all my flaws and I DONT know what to do. Ive looked it up and I cant bring myself to do anything positive.

What you are saying is that you believe you are not attractive, and for some reason which is unclear to you people are lying to you by saying that you are attractive, and you don't trust them, and it is upsetting to hear that.
TBH being attractive or otherwise isn't as important in the wide world as you have been led to believe. It is a matter of personal judgement, and everyone is entitled to an opinion - although that isn't the same as being free to express that opinion if others would find it hurtful. After all, it's only your opinion, however much importance you place in it.
And that applies to you too. Don't be hurtful to yourself. Your opinion is just one of many, and no truer than anyone elses.
I have heard a lot that appearance isnt everything and I try to think its not but I do not feel comfortable since my opinion on myself is so low. I just dont know how to think/feel better about myself. @DavidEss

Thanks for replying. It sounds from your reply that it isn't just your appearance, but in general you don't feel good about yourself. Is that right?
hello. ive been suffering from body dysmorpia for about four years now, it started getting worse about a month or so ago. i always pick out everything i hate about me and even get so irritated about someone calling me pretty. i dont see what eveyrone else sees, i just see a fat girl that is being lied to.
+@sugakookie123, that's a bummer that this problem is worsening for you. How are you coping?
@Hesitantbluesky im trying by taking like sexy photos or something just for myself to show that i am pretty, but that doesnt seem to be working, so i guess im not really coping well haha
+@sugakookie123, having someone else complimenting you must be weird. It's a weird and disgusting feeling to be in. I'll just take a wild guess. Maybe it was and still is infruriating, to know maybe, just maybe they're lying to you about looks. Thank you for reaching out for help. This problems of your most likey won't dispate soon. Since you said it has been 4 years. Which must of been painful for you. Maybe it even isolated you from some people. Which isn't a good feeling to be in. I wanna say "Things will be fine later on." and "Hopefully you'll can handle your problems soon enough". But things aren't as simple as we wish it is. You know this very well. Since you were been struggling with this for so long. Maybe if you're up for it. You can chat with a listener about it.
+@dynamicZebra3558, i remember when someone complimented me about me being kind. I know it's different for your case. Yours is about body dysmorphia. But i just wanted to share that, cause i think is kinda similar to yours. I wanted to cry too. Actually, i probably tear up a bit right at the spot. But i tried to hold it in as much as i can. To me, when someone compliments me about something i know very well isn't true, or something i don't resonate with. It's kinda hard hearing those words. Was it like that for you too? Or was it something completely different? I know. Sometimes it just kinda feels like a lie to being told to us. Right to our face. It's just really weird hearing it from someone.
+@dynamicZebra3558, Thanks for asking the question. The fact that you went out of your way to do that must mean you're in a lot of pain. How has it been for you?
