How do I force myself to do something I hate doing, but have to do?
I'm on abilify, prozac, and trazodone. The abilify is for intrusive thoughts. Being physically healthy, recently I've been exhausted daily despite getting enough sleep. Also recently, I've found doing monotonous, routine, and simple tasks (eg, cleaning the dishes, cleaning out the litter boxes, flossing) torturous. Depression has also interfered with my ability to exercise, even though I know exercising would make me feel better. I met with my psychiatrist today and we decided to cut out the trazodone, suspecting this is the culprit. Tonight will be the first night of my going without it. Any advice and support would help. Thanks.
I try to do the biggest thing that needs to get done first. Dont try to do everything in one day. Something I had to learn myself. Clean the bedroom one day and the kitchen another day. Don't make anything super overwhelming. Always try to get out of bed and eat something and get some small tasks done like making the bed or checking the mail. I find the first step to not feeling so depressed is just getting out of bed and getting dressed. If I have no energy to exercise but I know it will benefit my mental health. I put some music on and dance. I let all my bad emotions and feelings out through dance. So it is a great way to clear your head space. I have never taken medicine for my problems. I did pop pills before which was pain medicine for an old injury. Those pills made my head feel clear and I wasn't depressed. I quit taking them because I was scared of how far i could of gone with those pills. The best thing to do is try to remember that the pain, bad thoughts, and feeling miserable will pass. Watch a movie, work a puzzle, read a good book. Find something that makes you happy and brings you joy. Some days will be harder than others. Some days you will hate life. Some days you will love it. You just got to remember that after the storm comes the rainbow. I hope this helps you.
