How do I know what motivates me?
Help.
Someone was trying to help me and asked what motivates me. Whether it was money, career, friends, family, etc.
I have no answer. I have no drive. How do I find what motivates me? What do I do if I have nothing?
That's tough because you might not have any motivation at this point in time. I suppose think about the things that you are still doing, and think about what might be driving you to do it, even if it's just getting out of bed, eating, posting here. In addition to your examples, you can be driven by interests, values, the need to understand/knowledge, the possibility that it'll help with recovery, etc. It can also be dependent on the task.
@bubbleGlobe
I posted here because this is a terrible place to be in. I can't get anything done. I don't feel like eating. I can't sleep. I'm performing poorly at work.
My motivation is lost.
@brightTree5008 I know that feeling. It's absolutely awful. It's that question of why, and if it's really worth it, and just a general feeling of hopelessness and emptiness. I can't claim to be the best voice of reason here, but sometimes helping someone else makes me feel more needed and more alive.

@brightTree5008 could the possibility of getting out of this terrible place be a source of motivation for the time being? I am motivated to get out of bed and eventually eat because I'm terrified of getting worse, and I'm clinging onto a bit of hope that this will help me recover... At least for now, this is enough to override wanting to stay in bed (I write as I lie in bed...)
