How to cope?
Hey everyone!
Im new here. I was wondering hope everyone copes with being sad all the time.
Ive never talked to anyone about my issues and Im not sure if listening to music and watching too much tv is good me.
I have found myself not sleeping much lately. I isolate myself a lot and Ive also been crying more than usual lately. I live in an on-campus dorm and have no friends.
Ive had issues that I try to just forget. I feel so empty at times. I find that tv and music are the only things that I can completely loose myself in because i dont have to focus on my life.
Maybe I have a good life, maybe I dont. I just dont know.
On top of everything school is stressful. I dont know anyone who can understand the experiences Ive gone through. Sometimes I feel like the most unlucky person in the world. I often have drug abuse and suicidal thoughts, but Im scared of death. I dont know how I fix me.
Therapist and doctors scare me! I dont trust strangers and Im also feel very anxious talking to people.
Hello @DawnAurora97 !
first you are brave that you share your feelings because it’s not essay for someone to share these especially when you are feeling isolated!
sadness, loneliness, stress, all make distress. I am a bit like that so I can share with you what helped me. The most important part is that don’t give up and know that you are human and there is a way to fix it. We are all humans!
Music can help you relax. That’s great that you found something to fell better but at the same time there is always away to develop skills!
start small connections or conversations with anyone (like good morning) to someone stranger. regular sleep routine helped me too. Understand what you are going through is really important!

Hey DawnAurora,
I know how isolating it feels when it seems like you're the only one struggling with something. Personally, I know how it hurts when you put on a brave face and try to make it through the day, and no one notices how you're just pretending to be okay. However, it's okay to not feel happy, and I'm really glad you reached out to us. I also listen to music pretty much every hour of every day, and I find that it usually helps me. It might also make me a little more sad, but it also allows me to just focus on the moment and feel my emotions, and also validates how I feel. It could be different for you though, and that's okay! There are so many things you can do to take care of yourself. I also like reading, writing poetry, talking to a close friend, looking at my collection of super inspiring quotes on my phone that really helped change my mindset and put everything into perspective, and also coming onto 7 Cups to listen and help people.
Therapists and doctors also scare me sometimes, so I feel that. I often feel overwhelmed in social situations if I'm with more than just one, maybe two people (so like every day). If you want to chat with a Listener, that could really help. Me, or any other listener on here could listen to anything you want to talk about and be a compassionate friend to you if you'd like to send a message to one of us, anytime. I'd love to chat with you and I'm sure anyone else would too.
Anyway, good luck!

hi, friend. welcome to 7cups, so glad ur here.
feeling sad all the time is a difficult situation to manage and it’s understandable that talking to strangers or doctors feels scary. being vulnerable and opening yourself up to others can be overwhelming. i know what that’s like. sometimes when i feel that way, i like to go for nature walks with my headphones on. i also like to journal to help me “put down” the emotions. i find these things help me process better what im feeling. however, u know urself best and what works for me, may not work for u. is there any activities that you’ve enjoyed even if in the past that maybe u can try to incorporate into ur day-to-day? this might help u find what works and is most helpful for u. another important thing to remember is u don’t have to be so hard on urself. depression is hard to manage, try to be kind and compassionate w urself during this time.
