hungry but I just cant get myself out of bed. I want to want to do things, if that makes sense. Ive been reading a book and I almost want to read it, but just nothing is interesting to me at the

moment. I know what I should do, and thats get up and take my meds and eat and maybe shower but I really am having trouble making myself do anything.

I know how you feel. I feel the same. Its ok to feel bad sometimes. Why dont you se a goal that you do one things out of all the things you just named for yourself today. So have a shower or read a book. Just one thing is enough.

If you like call a friend or write down how you feel.

Good luck xx

Hello Azure, I am really sorry about the way you are feeling. You are not alone on this. There are so many people here that are feeling just like what you described. We are here to support you on this journey. Perhaps don't aim yourself to really big goals, since they may look too big now for you. Reading the book looks like a really challenging activity, perhaps keep it in mind for later when you are feeling better.

It is clear your depression is taking all your energy, that's why you just want to be in bed and not do anything else. However, if you don't do any activities, then you are going to feel more depressed since you need a stimulus to make you feel better. It is like a VICIOUS CYCLE. The more you don't do anything, the more you feel sad, the more you feel sad, the more you don't want to do anything.

My suggestion based on Behavioural therapy is to start by little things. This can be just going from the bed to the sofa. Then, if you think you are ready for something else, going from the bed to the shower. According to Behavioural therapy, as soon as you start doing some activities, you will start feeling better. REMEMBER, first the behaviour (Activity) and then the motivation. Basically, what I am saying is that you are not going to have any motivation right now to do the activities, but if you persist in doing ONE by ONE, your motivation will appear slowly again :) :) I am a listener if you want to talk with me sometime, just send me a message. @azureStrings4017
