I feel bad

Over the past few weeks I have kinda distanced myself from everyone meaning like I have been very quiet around my friends I don't really talk anymore and I kind of don't really text them ( going through something mental ) but if they do need something or need to talk to someone I am and will always be there for them I have no problem with that. My issues is whenever my bestfriend invites me to go somewhere I sometimes don't have money or I have to meet my sister, I will admit it's kindaannoying cause sometimes i just need to take a breather or get some fresh air since I'm always at home. I go straight to college then come right back home. This makes me feel like a bad friend cause I dunno maybe she feels like I always have an excuse whenever it comes to us hanging out. I dunno if she feels that way but if she do I don't blame her. 😖😔

@unknowncutie Hello. I’ve been dealing with anxiety and depression for over 20 years. Mine started when I was in college. I got really depressed and made all kinds of excuses to avoid hanging out with my friends. I was embarrassed to tell them what I was going through. I eventually was able to talk to them about it and even to this day when I go through it I talk to them about it. I eventually talked to a therapist, got on medication and realized what exactly I was going through. At the time before I talked to a therapist, I thought I was always going to feel that way which was very scary. Then everything got back to normal and I knew if I ever felt that way again I would know what it was. I recently had a bout with it and I started reading 2 books my therapist recommended. Feeling Good and The Best Ever Anxiety Management Techniques. They not only give you coping skills but they discuss how the brain works regarding depression and anxiety. I’m here if you need to chat.

Sometimes friendships really go in waves. I am sorry that you have been struggling recently. What about suggesting an activity with your best friend that doesn't cost anything like going on a walk? Those little moments matter and you can have much better conversations than a planned, expensive activity. It will also help a bit with that rut you say that you are in. @unknowncutie

I know that it all feels pretty overwhelming when you look at the big picture. Breaking problem things down into manageable chunks really helps because you feel like you are trying something. @unknowncutie
