What are you supposed to do when you are feeling so unbelievably lost? I feel like I have been buried deep in a hole underground, and I just can't climb out of it.

Writing used to be my great escape. Nowadays? Not so much. Nowadays, I have zero motivation to write anything down. I even tried to write down my feelings. No, more than that. I tried to write down all of the events that are bothering me, in chronological order of when they happened to how they are making me feel today. Nothing helps.

I just... I don't know. I don't know what I expect out of this post. I don't want to go into too much detail about my past, because now I've been judged on it both on here and by own family/friends. But it would just be nice if someone out there could give me legitimate suggestions as to how to go about better managing depression, I guess?

Something you should know beforehand is that going to my family/friends about it really is not an option, at this point.

Thanks, I suppose.

Its hard to prove a real helpful advice without knowing the details, each person have their own story, but we can do provide the general tips about fighting depression, the most common way to fight depression is, sports, sleeping no less than 6 hours and not more than 8 hours, eating three healthy food, do write something posstive each day for around 15 min a day, and maybe one of the listeners here can provide good help as well, and regarding feeling lost, there is a quote I hope you will find helpful
The core of your true self is never lost. Let go of all the pretending and he becoming you've done just to belong. Curl up with your rawness and come home. You don't have to find yourself; you just have to let yourself in.

Dear @reelquiet24, I'm so sorry to hear that you're dealing with depression. I'm an LPC/NCC and that's what most of my clients constantly wrestle with. Have you been diagnosed with MDD? Major Depressive Disorder is nothing to mess around with. It's way beyond just feeling blue or going through a bad patch, it's like you're trapped in quicksand, there's a weight on your chest, you WANT to get up and do stuff but just cannot. It goes way beyond just being lazy or not psyching yourself up to exercise. That's why it's much more serious than just feeling blue - which is bad enough, of course. So if you can get in to see a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner somewhere and get some insight and perhaps some medication, it could be huge help. Also if you can find a therapist with whom you have a good connection, ideally someone who specializes in mindfulness-based stress reduction, that would also help a lot. These are plans I've seen work countless times. It's all about learning to love yourself more - the hardest thing of all. Check out Radical Acceptance by Tara Brach in the meantime. It's a quick read and I think you may get some traction with it. Take care.

Hey, reelquiet, I know it has been a few days from when you posted but I wanted to make sure you had a chance to look at 7 cups Depression guide. I hope it can help you find some good ways to manage depression for you. It is a hard journey to find what works for you. I'm not too old yet, but I have been fighting depression and I know how hard it can be to get out of the rut and start figuring out life. Good Luck hon! heart
