"It's only temporary"

I used to find comfort in the saying "It's only temporary". Then I realized that literally everything is only temporary. Happiness is only temporary. The pain and depression seems to be the only consistent thing in my life. I feel like I can't do anything right and everything is my fault. I have an uncontrollable need to self-destruct. I feel like there's no future for me. Happiness is so important to me. True happiness is like a fire in your soul that warms your whole body. That feeling is getting more and more harder to find. All I say these days is "I'll be okay." But will I really?

@ErnoRachel - Thankyou so much for sharing this, I think this highlights a lot of things in which others might have gone through too, including myself. It seems as if things have become more challenging for you lately, and it's been hard to find the rare happy days in the mass swamp of depressive ones. I also understand what you mean by things being temporary, but I want you to know that even if happiness is only temporary for you, that can also mean that feeling down and depressed is too! I know this may sound like a cliche, but I strongly believe in life being a rollercoaster, and no matter how many ups and downs we have to ride through, it will always return us back to safetysmiley I also strongly follow the quote of "we can't have the good days without the bad", so perhaps how you're feeling right now will soon be balanced out in years to come with a more positive outcome.

But putting all of that aside, I really do believe in you! Just by coming here and sharing your feelings is a great step to take, as well as quite inspiring!laugh It shows how you're not preapred to let the feeling of depression take over, and control who you are as a person, which is awesome! You also said that happiness is really important to you, which is also really great! You see the benefits from being happy, which can sometimes be hard to see when you're feeling so down, so it's great that you acknowledge that happy times can and will happen! I'm sorry to hear that things seem to be getting worse.... but it doesn't have to be that waysmiley That may mean facing a long journey ahead, and you may need support to help you get through it, which is why it's amazing to have you here! As you may already know, there are loads of different ways 7cups can help! Whether that's through talking to people both 1-1 and in group chats, or whether it's posting in the forums, or other things like mindfulness exercises and self help guides. I hope all of these different things will help you refuel on your journey, should you ever find that you need too. Also, from everything you've said, it sounds like you're already half way there, so believe in yourself, you've got this!laugh I wish you the best of luck with everything, and please feel free to send me a message anytime if you ever need toocheeky

PS: In answer to your question, yes, you will be okay!laugh
