I want to feel alive again

I was just diagnosed this week with Major Depressive Disorder. I finally decided it was time to see a doctor. I’ve had no energy, motivation, or desire to do anything and rather be alone all the time. I am drained by the state of my mental health and by the people around me who only call on me when they need me. I had no one to turn to for me, but have been available to everyone else. My doctor prescribed me medication that I have yet to start and said to only take care of me for 10 days. I’m scared that the medication may make me worse but I know I need to try because I want to be better. I feel so stuck I have no interest to do anything and there is plenty that needs my attention. My brain is scattered everywhere and I feel like I can’t move.

Hey I’ve been where you are now. Starting medication can be a really tough but needed step. For me it got worse before it got better, but it really helped me in ways nothing else was able to. I encourage you to give it a shot. Also, it may take some time for it to work, it doesn’t just flip on overnight. You may also need to try a couple medications and it might take a while to find the right dosage

Thank you so much for replying and I took your advice and literally just took the first dose. I pray it doesn’t get worse than it already is.

I was scared of taling medication too. I have been on it for years now and I can't believe the difference in my life. It's great you're seeing a doctor. It was so hard for me to do that too.

It was very hard to go see a doctor I actually waited years before I made myself go and wish I would’ve went way sooner. Did you have to take different medications before you found the right one?
