Life is just a Brief Intermission
Death is not the greatest loss in life; it is what dies inside us while we're still alive. - Norman Cousins
We must be diligent today. To wait until tomorrow is too late. Death comes unexpectedly. How can we bargain with it? - Buddha
A dear friend of mine died last month from overdosing on narcotics/methadone. He was only 28 years old. Depression and/or anxiety can kill you, but you have to be strong enough to get help. My friend thought getting high all the time was his cure. Well .. It ended up killing him. Nobody deserves that. I hope someone will read this and take it seriously.
I am truly sorry for your loss. I believe that everyone, to some extent, is suffering. We seem to spend our time between looking for 'causes' & 'cures'. This suffering is unique and private; yet we believe we are the only ones who are suffering or just don't care to 'see' others suffering.
Some go to any lengths to avoid this suffering and abuse alcohol, drugs, sex, food, or anything else that can be an escape.
The saddest thing, to me, is that we don't acknowledge that everyone is suffering and (from time to time) needs a smile or a simple hand held out.
I'm sorry your friend suffered so badly. I hope you can, in time, find some relief from your suffering.
Everyone has some sort of problem or issues to deal with and everyone has some sort of "crutch". My "crutch" has been alcohol and I've smoked since I was 15 .. but I would never do something so severe as to kill myself. I know there are people out there that still care about me and need my help. This world has turned so unaccepting and racist and cruel and narcissistic. It's all or nothing it seems like!
