Lonely
Hello! My name is Allie and Im new to this app. Ive recently become overwhelmed with loneliness. Im about to graduate college and am left reflecting over the fact that I havent made one friend the entire 4.5 years I have been here. It makes me doubt myself as a person. My best friend of 10 years has stopped talking to me after trying to get support from her, and I really have nobody else to talk to. Overall Im just trying to find a connection with some people, whether it be others sharing their story or giving any support/advice. Thanks for your time!

First of all - Congratulations on getting close to graduating! - completing college is not an easy task, and you are almost there :)
I know it seems unsettling that you feel you haven't made any friends while in college, but that doesn't make you any less capable making (and deserving of being) a friend. I have been in your shoes before, thinking of how much time had passed without making a single friend of my own. I was so busy for years trying to make things work with my family that I thought friends weren't as important to find until recently.
Making friends sometimes requires us to do things with others in order to find something to connect with. Branching out into new and rediscovered interests might just be that spark to meet a great friend.

Hi Allie, welcome to 7cups. :)
I'm experiencing same thing too. Here I am, sitting in my dorm and thinking that I'm lonely, I feel lonely. Unfortunately it isn't the first time I felt this way. I broke off my long time friendships or started to contact less with my close friends because they couldn't be with me physically and eventually this makes you lonely. However, I don't think this is the end anyway? What happens if you cant make new ones in the 4.5 years? Doesn't mean that you wont or cant in the future.
My suggest is dont go so hard on yourself. Dont say that you have a problem, maybe you have but who doesn't anyway? We just learn to deal with them and if we have somebody with us in this time, then we're lucky and if we don't then it's okay to because it makes us stronger. It might sound useless but I think we should look at it that way; we can be lonely in even if we are with friends. We should just learn how to be with ourselves. To not feel lonely, but be alone.
All kind of relationships are hard these days, so just let it be. First of all give priority to yourself. Think about what makes you happy and do them. Go out, do your hobbies, take your fav courses, meet new people while you doing them and in a time I believe you'll meet and spend time with people who deseve you and be a real friend for you.
Hope you feel better, take care. :)
