Lost and confused
I don’t always fit in easily. I’ve been rejected my my own age group and found a group of friends who are between 7-10 years younger than me. I was happy being with them. One of them, on a number of ocasiones, has told me to find friends my own age. No one else has made a comment like this. It made me feel really hurt and unwelcome. Why would he say this to me?

I am sorry about this. You are not unwanted. I think that there is nothing wrong with having friends of different ages. I know it can be easier said than done to not let comments like that bother you. If you enjoy being friends with this group then I don't think age is that important.

I can only imagine the hurt you must have felt! Hearing that from someone who is supposed to support you no matter what. You are never unwanted, friends come in all shapes and sizes, and all ages! That should not change your relationship with them. I’m sure you are a great friend, and that is what matters the most. People say things to break others down, but don’t let them discourage you. Be true to yourself always! Please do not hesitate to chat with me when you are free. I’m always here to listen.
