Making myself easier to handle for my SO

My depression mostly affects my ability to handle first / impulsive emotions (which shows in conflicts) and having a constant fear for things to end.

If I'm in a bad phase ( which thanks to my progress normally doesn't lastet longer than a week or two) I'm exhausted and I skip on self care rituals, less enthusiastic but still doing my best to support friends / relationship. So all in all for me it isn't dramatic, but still it takes a toll.

And my bf struggles to understand my bad phases and to treat me the right way. Emotionally he can't understand that I feel this way, and avoids asking me for favours, is more silent and all over treating me as if I'm soon dying. I couldn't bring up an explanation that shows how it feels for me or showing him ways how to handle the situation.

How did you explained your depression to your partner / friends / families? What helps them to understand it and makes it easier to handle you?

Maybe your answers might give me an idea heart

The only thing I can suggest is opening up a conversation with your boyfriend about your depression and why it makes him feel those things. If they don't have a great understanding of it, they may just be drawing ideas from worst case scenarios and applying them to you.

Maybe also having them learn a bit about depression symptoms like the ones you've described could be helpful. I hope that things go a little better.
