My 7 Cups Dream Journal
Entry 1: The Boxes of Cats
It was a little strange but what I remember most is visiting a house that was in my old neighborhood that I’d recently moved from (it really wasn’t, so dream logic) but I came back to collect something I left or my mother left.
It was very sad and the people who were there now were sort of okay with me wandering around and looking. I kept noticing the signs that I’d once lived there (painted over places that still revealed chipped paint and stuff I recognized from my apartment).
Then I looked beneath a couch or table and found boxes full of kittens. Two boxes were full of meowing kittens in water that the new home owners had no idea were there, and one more box held a very dead cat that was an older one from a previous litter. All of the kittens were starving without their mother and I knew that it was the reason why the older one passed.
The new owners suddenly smelled the dead cat and I took it upon myself to get rid of it. When I came back an hour later all of the kittens were gone, and when I was walking past another house I could see all the kittens. They’d all grown up into adult cats!
I dreamt that I was hanging out with my old friend group at my ex friend's house on a holiday, maybe Halloween. Things were okay, and in the middle of playing games I found myself in a strange improv classroom with strangers. It wasn’t comfortable because I’d just been at a sleepover and didn’t have any shoes on.
I watched a teacher talk the students through improv skits before he told me I was next.
I really didn’t want to but did it anyway, and I started my skit. I was standing in front of a large lamp that would turn on once I spread my arms- I was an angry sun who wasn’t being appreciated over all the effort it took to warm the earth and humans. So I’d stomp off and say aloud that it would be much more impressive sounding if I had shoes on.
It's okay that you didn't go today and regrouped instead.
It sounds like you got some solid work done outside. That is a good check mark for the day.
I do hope that you can get some more solid food. We are going to have some roasted sweet potatoes over brown rice tomorrow for dinner. Keep it simple and healthy.
Good luck with the job developer meeting. Focus on some online jobs maybe. There are some out there which would work. You are going to find something eventually. I promise.
I got a frozen lasagna for dinner that I can have tonight and on the weekend. I can make some chicken and steam vegetables too, especially if I focus on doing dishes starting tomorrow so I can cook more.
The Friday chores were exhausting; cleaning the cans with bleach and a hose while it was so windy made it even worse but I finished it.
The meeting with my job developer was okay. I found a nearby office job that is in my city, plus it looked like I would be a good fit. I discussed it with her, and she had me bcc her on the email I had to send for the position to apply.
My job developer gave me feedback about how my email and cover letter sound too similar and my cover letter wasn’t formatted properly. she said she’d send me some examples so I can get more practice. It was embarrassing but I need to do better.
We set up another appointment for next week on Monday. In my application I said that I could be available for interviews during the weekday on mornings, so I’ve got that to keep my eyes open for too.
I am glad that you found a job that looks like a good fit. Don't worry about the formatting of the cover letter and the resume. It ALWAYS takes a second pair of eyes (or a third or fourth). You haven't put a bunch of them together before. You are going to do great in sending something in. You are very detail oriented which makes you a nice fit for any office.
The food sounds good too. We had our sweet potatoes and rice tonight. They were good. I flavored the roasted sweet potatoes with some lime so they weren't too sweet. But sweet potatoes are a bear to cut. You have to aim for thin ones and have a sharp knife.@integrityblues
That’s good. I’m glad your sweet potatoes and rice were good. My lasagna was okay for frozen.
I’m still very worn out from yesterday, so I did lots of resting.
Hoping that you had a good day today. Mine was rough but I am hoping that a good sleep tonight will set things right. @integrityblues
I’m sorry your day was rough. Sleep should help.
I went to sleep last night with a headache that continued after I woke up this morning. It took me forever to do the little I’d planned. I’d made my bed, took a shower, then went on a walk after my hair was dry.
Still have the headache so I took more Tylenol and I’m going to sleep early. I just want to be ready for my job development appointment.
I hope that appointment goes really well for you. I have been dealing with evening headaches myself. They are no fun. May we both be headache free tomorrow. @integrityblues
My appointment was okay. My job developer showed me how to make my cover letter better, then suggested I send another email to the job I applied to on Friday while explaining I’d accidentally sent the wrong one.
I applied to two other job leads she sent me even though I don’t feel great about them.
My head is much better than yesterday, so I’m hoping that things will continue to get better.
I hope your headaches get smaller and less annoying.
Glad to hear that you moved forward on the job stuff. Each time you are learning new things about how to do this.
I am also glad to hear that your headaches are better. Mine are tension based and basically hitting every night at the moment. But they are okay during the day so I can function. @integrityblues
Hope that things are going okay. I have been thinking about you.
Hey. I’ve just been tired and busy with job development appointments. I took the weekend to try and get some writing done.
I’ve got another job development appointment on Monday and therapy on Tuesday.
All good stuff! Moving in a solid direction. Sending lots of strength and peace. @integrityblues
Thanks bestVase, I’m going to need it.
I hope things are going well.
Yesterday’s dream was about attending my birthday party only to find that my ex friend was there celebrating her own birthday like we used to because hers was over two weeks before mine and when we were in school she’d mash our parties together on my day, Halloween, which was as stupid as it sounds. I mean at the time it was okay because I was homeless and broke so I’d not be having that great a party at my home so we’d do the party trick or treating and movie night at her place.
But in this dream when she showed up acting like we were friends still and that we’d obviously be celebrating them together like old times I told her no, and to get out of my birthday.
Therapy that day wasn’t very fun. I mean, it never really is but we were talking about my difficulty dealing with people and worrying about getting sick, and she said that we have to focus on not getting drawn into repetition that could lead to OCD rituals. Then we were talking about when I first got sick with my MS, how my massive flare that lead to my diagnosis wasn’t made any easier by a very angry mean customer who basically threatened to have me fired for being so slow (I was having pretty bad double vision at the time and needed to be careful while counting cash and ringing up items).
Today I dreamt that someone was moving on my property and left a massive mess, but I tried to avoid it and leave and instead ran into my younger sister who was freaking out about being made to leave from where ever she was staying.
My aunts got involved and they got my sister and I (for some reason) into a nice hotel. I had to stay with her at first to get her settled but she ruined it almost immediately and had to run back to our room, banging on the door for me to let her in. For some reason it was very hard to use my hands to turn the deadbolt and use the doorknob, like the air was as thick as syrup! She finally got in and when I left to get something I’d forgotten which floor I was supposed to be on and stood on another while talking to these strangers.
Today I’m preparing for my next Zoom call. I’m already not happy because there was some error as she says she emailed me the other job leads during Monday’s meeting but I got nothing but the one job lead and an appointment reminder.
I’ve got a big headache plus congestion and I keep biting my tongue when she suggests I do as she do and stick VapoRub up my nose but I already know that isn’t a good remedy and can cause irritation and a rare form of pneumonia.
After the meeting I’ll be waiting for my grocery delivery from my older sister, and if I get enough dishes done I’ll prepare some of the things for Thanksgiving early. I’m just doing stuffing, green beans, potatoes (mashed or baked), and baked chicken breasts because I already have those in the freezer and don’t want the challenge of a whole turkey.
That sounds like an exhausting, stressful day with lots of dreaming. That is where all of your tension went.
I can understand that having a therapy appointment the day before Thanksgiving is hard. O joy! I had the same thing. It is just very exhausting with lots to process. But we are both moving forward.
It does sound like you are going to have a nice meal tomorrow so focus on that.
The job stuff I know is annoying, but you keep at it. That is impressive.
Happy Thanksgiving! @integrityblues
Yes, the tension sucks and therapy is a hit and miss sometimes with how it makes me feel.
I was able to deal with the meeting today and afterwards I was able to get the grocery delivery and begin working on the food for tomorrow.
I roasted green beans, made the boxed stuffing, and prepared a brine for the chicken breasts so they can soak in it and defrost overnight in the fridge. Tomorrow I’ll cook the chicken with some potatoes and spices. I plan on mashing the potatoes once the cooking is done.
Im very tired but glad I got this done today. I also have to call the dentists about the wisdom teeth removal.
I dreamt that I was watching the characters of Anita Blake Vampire Hunter at a party. I think it was supposed to be an engagement party for Anita and Jean-Claude but there was a subplot where Jean-Claude was being forced to do ballet for everyone. Don’t really know what that was about.
I woke up to start working on the potatoes and chicken but also was sending my holiday texts. I tried sending one to my mom but tried calling her too, then I thought I’d try the temporary number she’d been using. Turns out that my younger sister has that phone and that temp number so I asked to speak to our mom and chatted with her about Thanksgiving and cooking, but also asked about the phone and what was wrong with it. She broke it so she’s going to get a new one to swap her SIM card into at the beginning of the month. I told her that we’d try and talk at the beginning of the month like we planned but to just call me and leave a message so I know it’s her.
In even better news I finally have an appointment for my wisdom teeth removal! It’ll be on the 20th of December so I’ll have time to clean my house and stock up on soft foods.
I’m upset because my other aunt whom I treat really gently and don’t talk about certain things with argued with me over the phone about Covid being just like a cold now and why am I still so cautious about it?
I’m still angry about the discussion because she kept attacking my claim of it being so hard to do things or go around people because of the fear of getting sick but I still have to go and do things for myself. I’m big on stating that the only person to take care of me is me, I have no close friends near me and extended family is far too, so I take the risks I have to in order to make it to therapy and go to the dr.
My fears were invalidated and she kept going on and on that the dr she works with did a lot during the pandemic and that it’s practically better now.
Im mad because she doesn’t have a disease that messes with her immune system so she doesn’t have to deal with anything like I do.
She treated me like a child.
I am sorry that Thanksgiving was more stressful than you wanted and that your aunt doesn't understand your anxiety.
You are right to be concerned because of your medical condition. I think that what your aunt was trying to get at (though she had no idea how to do it) was that she is sad that you have so many limits and wants you to find a way through them.
Does that way exist? I think that it does. COVID is indeed less deadly especially with quick antivirals. It isn't yet "the flu" but people in 1920 two years after the flu epidemic had killed thousands were still pretty cautious too. Will COVID eventually become like the flu? Yes, but there are plenty of other diseases that will always be emerging.
So caution is important, but so is continuing to work through your anxiety with your therapist. And you have been doing a great job of that. It is slow going at times but your comfort level is going to keep improving.
Thanks bestVase
I am so hoping that the rest of your weekend thus far has been more relaxing. You deserve a good day!
@integrityblues
It’s been a little more relaxing. Today is the last day of NaNoWriMo and I finished with 18,026 words. I’m pleased with the writing I did even though I didn’t hit the 50,000 word goal. I was still able to get a little writing done every single day and I feel better since I didn’t quit and pick it up again.
I have to get some chores done tomorrow so I wont be overwhelmed the first week of December as I prepare for a job development appointment and pay day.
You wrote every day?? That really is awesome. Over 180000 words is nothing to sneeze at. You kept at it which is great.
Have you ever told your job developer about your writing? I bet they would be impressed by how much you stick to it.
Good luck with the chores and meetings early this week. @integrityblues
Thanks bestVase. It really isn’t anything to sneeze at, it’s a good amount of typing in 30 days not that all of it is usable at the moment. If I want to I can edit some or continue other bits or just let the draft sit in my Google Docs.
I’ve mentioned it to my job developer and she thinks it’s really neat and a nice hobby.
I didn’t get nearly as many chores done today but I got the basics done so I’m ready for tomorrow like refilling my med kits for shots and pills or making the bed and doing a little pedaling on my cycler for exercise.
I spent most of today trading texts with my aunt (not the one I argued with on Thanksgiving) and asked her how Thanksgiving went. She said it was nice and quiet and then asked if I’d heard from my mom on the holiday. I’d asked her if we could talk instead of text because my fingers were hurting and after waiting tried to call her but only got her voicemail. So I was waiting around all day for her to get in contact with me till I finally slowly texted her about my mom breaking her phone and that my Thanksgiving could have been better since I got into a stupid argument with her sister over whether Covid is just like a cold now.
After I take my morning meds tomorrow I’m going to stay in bed for as long as I want because I’m waiting for payday.
It really isn't about how the writing turned out. It is about your persistence in doing it. What would it look like to keep the writing going? Anything you can do over the long term means something. It keeps you connected, kind of like the exercise bike. I know that your fingers are hurting, but think in terms of even a few sentences a day.
I am glad that you got in contact with your aunt, even if it wasn't the way that you wanted to. Do your joints hurt more when it gets cold like this? I can imagine that they do.
Glad that you got your chores done and can rest in warmth a bit tomorrow! @integrityblues
It’s usually not so bad but overuse off my hands and fingers makes it more noticeable. Like one part carpal tunnel and when it isn’t then it’s my MS. The cold sucks and I’ve been trying to keep warm.
Today I mostly just stayed in bed to read then got up to cook some chicken breasts I’d brined overnight and roast them with potatoes. If I really want to I can make a little chicken salad for dinner and have a toasted sandwich.
Ooh, chicken salad sounds lovely. There are so many nice ways to use chicken breasts.
I hope that your hands were a little better with the cold today. It was cold enough here to consider gloves. But I think things will start warming a little in many areas of the US tomorrow. Hopefully that will help.
@integrityblues
True. It’s cold but today I took the chance to walk in the sun and it felt pretty good as I was running errands. I’d gotten my money and balanced my checkbook, got the toilet paper, then lunch.
I’d ordered my new blender from Walmart and it should be here tonight or tomorrow. I also made a Target order for a cheaper deal on shampoo and a normal toothbrush for after my wisdom teeth removal, and I’ll pick it up tomorrow. I even added money to my laundry card so I can do a nice load of clothes and stuff.
My job development meeting wasn’t great. Two of the four job leads were already expired, another one is for a company I didn’t pass the testing phase for last year and can’t retest or apply even for new jobs, and the last is something I’m just not qualified for.
I ended up looking at jobs on LinkedIn and applied for a remote transcriptionist.
You accomplished a lot! That was a great group of errands which should very much make your next few weeks easier.
Walking out in the cold can be really invigorating once you get going.
Sorry the job meeting didn't work well. But I like the remote transcriptionist idea. You could be good at that one. You are going to find something.
So am I remembering correctly that the game group is tomorrow? @integrityblues
I dreamt that in the middle of a zombie apocalypse I was trying to get to the Starbucks. I got there and the barista immediately started charging me for my usual blonde roast, but when they rung it up it was actually a Persian blonde roast. I tried to tell them that I had enough to pay for the coffee but I wanted to use my rewards to get a pastry.
The zombie apocalypse part is interesting...@integrityblues
Yes, it was strange.
I’m hoping that my blender gets here tonight since I’ll be busy tomorrow with gamers group.
The blender sounds great! There is so much you can make with it. I just got an air fryer for my birthday. I made some butternut squash and cranberries in it for the first time. It worked fairly well, but it certainly doesn't speed things up. It is kind of like a mini oven.
Have fun gaming! @integrityblues
Today wasn’t a good day.
I checked my food stamps and learned that they are discontinued, then hours and hours after the gamers group I saw a notice on my account dated Nov 30th that said my food stamps have been canceled entirely because I supposedly didn’t complete the recertification process, which isn’t true. I sent in my paperwork online before the due date of my birthday and hadn’t heard back at all.
I was in an awful mood all the way to the gamers group where I sat and played Sorry and Uno while talking a little bit about what happened, and after I was home for awhile I tried to call the one number they offer (it’s just a customer service line) and was stuck on hold for an hour. I swear, I spent most of the wait thinking really hard about self harm from all the stress but was able to stop myself because it’s not a good idea and I have several practical reasons…like not having bandaids.
I was so upset I asked my friend if she could talk after dinner. She finished first because her fiancé is sick and slowly eating as he’s all sniffly.
The talk was okay, but it highlighted how I can’t really talk to my aunts because neither of them answered my texts this week. Sure they could be busy but it’s also possible that they don’t want to talk to me at all, period, so how can I depend on them for food now that my food stamps are potentially gone for good?
I’m going to try and call customer service earlier in the morning tomorrow for a better chance to speak to someone about my case before I even attempt to get a hearing. Then I’ll do lots of raking because there’s leaves everywhere outside.
I canceled my blender because the order has been delayed for a third time and never goes past the “prepare” stage at Walmart. Besides, now I need the money I wasted on it for food.
Maybe I’ll get a blender in January.
I was on hold for an hour and a half but was finally able to speak to someone about my food stamps. They informed me that I didn’t do the interview and then patched me through to someone else to conduct the interview. When it was over they told me that I could get my food stamps today or tomorrow- it didn’t happen today at 5, so I’ll check again tomorrow morning.
I talked to my friend after to share and celebrate.
Then I very slowly did the bare minimum for the trash cans because I’m so sore and tired.
I am so sorry that I missed last night. Not hearing from me probably made things harder. My son was coming home after a semester away and there were all sorts of airport problems including his suitcase arriving on a later flight than his and his phone being left at the airport where he changed planes. But we are good now.
I am glad to hear that the food stamps worked out, but the stress that it caused you is horrible. It sounds like you handled it the best you could by going to the gaming group anyway and finding a friend to talk to. But that doesn't make it less tough. It is understandable that you are tired.
Sorry that you had to cancel the blender order. Maybe you can find somewhere better to get one from. The prices might be nearly the same on Target or Amazon and you could get it delivered. I do really like our handheld one.
I’m sorry about the travel problems, that’s never fun. I don’t blame you for taking care of that. Travel problems are one of my worst nightmares.
I still haven’t gotten my food stamps yet and if I don’t get them tomorrow I’ll have to call again and ask what’s happening. Since I canceled my blender (even though the app still says I’m getting it in spite of my canceling it before it could be shipped) the temporary hold on that amount of money was let go in my bank account leaving me enough to go get lunch today, but I left 15 dollars of it aside in case I had to go shopping for essentials to hold me through the next few days.
And when I learned I wasn’t getting the food stamps still after 5 p.m. I left in the dark to go to the store for bread, tea, a can of diced tomatoes, peanut butter, and some 75% off cookies. I’ve had terrible cramps for most of the day so all I wanted was sweets while I used a heat wrap for the cramping. I’m hoping that my period will just quit it with this drumroll and begin.
I have a Zoom call with my job developer on Monday and therapy on Tuesday.
Im hoping that things even out but I’m really going to need a break from everything to prepare for my dental appointment on the 20th.
