Need some advice

I just got back from college and barely had friends I hung out with down there. Most of the time I spent by myself because a lot of the people were fake. I really looked forward to coming back home only to see my best friend who I haven't seen in like 5 months. However, my parents only let me see her like twice a week. The rest of the days I spent working and I was really looking forward to finding true happiness and to just be happy this year. However, my parents are preventing me from doing that and they keep me on a tight leash to where I have a tracker on my car and phone and can't go many places. Even though I just turned 19, they still treat me like a child and I've been dealing with depression and all of the stress they bring on me since I was around 13 or 14. It's gotten to the point where I'm out of options and I just feel like giving up. In life I can only find short term happiness and the good things always outweigh the bad things. I know to many this may seem like it’s not that big of a deal compared to others, but it’s something I really struggle with and depression does run in my family.

So sorry to hear about what you're going through. I can't give any real advice but as I am around the same age as you and have been in a similar situation in the beginning of pandemic, I greatly symphathize with you. Perhaps talking to them and setting boundaries would help. It wouldn't be easy but maybe look for a middle ground and start from there. It can be quite hard living with parents as an adult when they consistently invade your privacy and disregard your boundaries. Hope you and your parents reach a resonably middle ground. Wishing you the best x
