Not who they wanted
my parents completely lost it with me and admitted i turned out way different than what they wanted and im suck here like im sorry i can help i got your genes forservedepression they asked why couldnt i be like my little brother. i just dont want to feel alone i want to feel good about who i am but i cant this winter break is getting worst and worst
I totally understand what you're going through. I've been told "I love you because you're my kid, but I don't like you very much as a person." If you ever need anyone to talk to, I'm here.
I'm so sorry, our parents are supposed to love us unconditionally and it's super hurtful when they tell us that we aren't living up to their expectations, even when we're doing our best. It's even worse when ourparents are comparing us to our siblings, you deserve to be looked at in your own light.
And on Christmas too! :(
I experienced something very similar to you. I would dread going home for winter break because it meant seeing my dad's disappointment in me. Of course, it was easier said than done, but I told myself to stop caring about what my dad thinks. Yeah of course, I would love to have a supportive caring dad, but to the post above, I think saying parents are SUPPOSED to love us unconditionally is a very strong statement. In my opinion, the more we are focused on what our friends, family, significant others, etc. are SUPPOSED to be doing, the worse we feel when they don't meet these expectations. Don't let what your parentshave said to you define who you are. Make sure you live up to YOUR own expectations, and don't worry about what your parents think. I've made many "mistakes" according to my parents, but I'm happy knowing I'm living the life I want to live.
