Recovery. is. *******. possible. EVIDENCES

PLEASE, READ THIS. IT'S NOT WASTE OF TIME. FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.

I had 3 depressive episodes. I'm still depressed, but I'm on anti-depressants and working on myself constantly. I don't wanna BELIEVE that I'll be better soon. I'msurethat I'll get better soon. And not because I wanna think "positive" or something else, I guess that's stupid, it's normal to be in life positive and negative sometimes, if you're teaching people to be always positive my opinion on that is THAT'S WRONG, then you're looking at life black-white and that's a big mistake. It's not always white, but neither always black. Combine that two and you'll be happy as f***.

I'm sorry for swearing. I just wanna be realistic. F***positive stuff. People feel suicidal and you tell 'em to feel positive, I meanwhat's the point ??????people who actually recover by thinking positive weren't depressed at all. F***. YOU.

So I'm gonna tell you my story. Yeah, recoveryIS POSSIBLE, and this is not another story about that I thought positive and everything got better. I repeat again. F***that. That's not reality.

Depression recovery is a process and it's f******hard. Do you know how much it's hard ? yes, it's hard. But it's worth it, because during that process you'll meet yourself and you'll learn some wonderful things that will stay there whole your life. You'll cry, you'll feel suicidal, you won't get out of bed whole day. You will lose friends(yes you will) and you'll learn to live with that. You'll learn that to survive, you need to fight and be brave as f***if you wanna live. Life is a battle. Life is a f******battle. Depression is a battle. You'll learn a lot about people because they will leave you. Yes, they will leave you. Let's be realistic: who wants a depressed person for a friend ? Nobody. And yeah, that's true, I don't wanna hide. Every person will rather spend time with someone who's funny as f***and who jumps all the time and laughs and does crazy stuff around, than with someone who will sit in corner and be quiet and insecure in everything around them. Yes, that's true.

My goal is not to hurt you: my goal is to get you back in the reality. If my goal was to hurt you, I wouldn't sit on this f****** chair writing my story; if my goal was to hurt you then I won't give a f***about you. But I don't give a f***... I give two, three, four f****about you. I care. Because I know how f******hard it is. Maybe, when people leave you, you'll feel bad, disappointed, crushed. But that's okay. People come, people leave. That's the life too, actually. You'll come, you'll leave. Like other people do. Normal process.

You'll be proud on yourself. You'll learn to love yourself because in so many moments there won't be ANYONE who will love you. So the only person who can love you is... you. You know ? It's you. And I won't tell your family, your parents, friends... I know. Some of you don't have family. Many of you don't have friends. I have family, but they weren't here for me. So I learned...Don't expect help. Or better, expect help, and then when you see that nobody will help you, you'll learn.

You'll meet the new pieces of universe and you'll find a whole new universe inside of you. Because you're f******art. Only if you wanna bethat.

I'm on anti-depressants(Zoloft), going on therapies once a week, constantly working on myself and I know... I'll recover, again. It's possible.

Get help from professionals and help yourself. Cheers

Hey, everyone. :) I'm 19 and, I've been battling with depression since I was around your ages (13-14). Depression is a sneaky little thing, but it really does get better. I still take zoloft, but I came to realize that I only need to take it whenever I go back to college. It's so important to stick with the medications and continue with therapy, where it's offered. As soon as you hit college, they offer counseling services, groups, and medical services to ensure that you have everything you need. It does get better. I really only say that it's best to not try to wane yourself off your meds by yourself, the symptoms aren't so pleasant.

You learn a lot about yourself during the recovery process. You realize what you can and can't deal with. You learn your strengths and your weakness. I wish there was a clear pinpoint to why depression affects some of us, and not others. But, there are so many success stories out there. My mother hasn't taken antidepressants in over 15 years and hasn't had an episode yet. It will get better, but not without help.

If anyone ever says, "get over it", "you're an attention seeker", "it's just a phase"... pay this ignorance no mind. Surely, if we could just wake up and feel like ourselves again, we would. It's not that simple. It takes a long time; it does. But, stay strong. And always remember, isolating yourself is probably the worse thing. Get outside, even if it's just a walk. We can do it, guys. <3

How did you all get help? I admire you all so much, but I really want help and I don't know how to get it,, I'm just sick of this now, and I need it to stop.

Find an adult you really trust and tell them how you feel-for me it was my mom. Some people's parents or family don't understand so you could tell a coach or religious leader or teacher or family friend.

I know it sucks opening up, but it's the first step to not feel like sh*t all thetime. Just know recovery is possible and you need to take baby steps: you cant eat the watermelon all at once. You need to break it into smaller pieces and eat a little every day. Cheesy metaphor but it gets the point across.

I'm so glad that you're getting help sweetie !yes

Do you have school psychologist or something similar at your school ? Maybe you don't really need meds, maybe some psychotherapy can help. I mean, psychotherapy helped me, I was going on therapies to my school psychologist when I was on summer holiday.

Anti-depressants you can only get when you get professional diagnosis by a mental health professional such as psychiatrist(the most often) or some psychotherapist. Psychologists can't give you meds, because they're not professionals for it. So, when you get the correct diagnosis you'll get meds.

I hope I helped. Lots of loveheart

Hiya,

No, we don't even have a school counselor haha. i haveheard that a combination of medication and therapy works well, do you think that this is the case? I went to children and adolescents mental health support, and someone there offered me medication! I was stupid to turn it down, it was a psychologist that offered them to me

I feel a little out of place here, as I think the age is skewed quite young. I'm 42 and was diagnosed with clinical depression last month. As best I can tell, I've been living with it for a VERY long time but never thought it was an actual problem. I'm only beginning to find help now, so I applaud everyone here who recognized the issues quickly and at a young age. Believe me...it's a lot tougher to deal with when you're older.
