Self diagnosed?
I've been kinda stuck on this for a while now but with no access to actual psychologists or school counsellors because my parents may punish me, I suspect that I have high functioning depression. I haven't been happy in over five years, I struggle to keep connections and wake up in the morning, and I hardly take care of myself but I still manage to go to school despite literally crying as I walk into the classroom. Do I have dysthymia? What can I do to better my situation?
Hello, I think thre lst reply had some good tips. If they don't help, I would suggest that you have a chat with your school counselor if possible. We arent here to give advice, but depression can be treated and you shouldn't feel like crying every day going to class . My daughter went through that and as a Mom, I'm so glad we got her some help. You may be afraid to tell her, and I know how that is - but deep down she wants you to he happy and healthy. Be brave my dear, things can get better.

thank you, I will keep trying , the thing is that I have told my mom before and she has brushed it off as a teen "can't be depressed, you don't pay taxes" and actually screamed at me for complaining, saying that I'm a burden on her and that's why she's depressed so I've stopped talking to her about anything.

so very sorry to hear that.. I think a school counselor will keep your consult in confidence, but I'm not totally sure. Still, you deserve to feel secure and happy im your school life.I had an abusive mother also, so i can relate to how you feel. I will send you a virtual hug and bouquet of your favorite flowers.
