So down... burnout or depression?
I suffer from depression, and it is usually controlled by meds meds well. But I'm dealing with my mom going through chemo for stage 4 cancer, and the treatment isn't working now. They will try another set of I'm meds this weekend. Yesterday I just was so down at work. I spent most the morning staring at my work, I wanted to go home and curl up in bed. The afternoon got better, but I felt so burned out when I got home from work and was angry from frustration. Should I try therapy again? What do you recommend?
@tulipMoth I am so sorry you have/had to go through all that! It must be really difficult for you to have to worry about your mother, mental health, work, etc! You have shown strength and resilience given the difficulties you are facing and I admire you for not giving up! You asked if you should try again therapy, right? Does that mean you have tried therapy before? Did it help you? Maybe if it helps you, then you should definitely give it another try! We all need someone to talk to and let them guide us to find the path that makes the most sense to us! You are really strong and there is hope! <3
Hey, I’m glad you reached out!
I’m sorry for all that your going through. I hope things get better in some sense. For now all I can recommend is to eat healthy and look towards more positive things. I highly recommend therapy if it helps. Try to do things you like. Don’t let the depression stop you from doing work. If it becomes too much to handle, take a break or talk to a friend, find someone to talk to. I definitely recommend the listeners on 7cups. They’re all awesome and great to speak to.
Don’t lose hope! Your doing great! What your going through is tough, but you will get through this!
What you're feeling is perfectly normal. It's a constant state of dread and fear called anxiety. You could actually say that it's the beginning stages of grief. I went through this as well with my older sister. It wasn't the same illness, but the emotions were likely similar. Please trust me when I say this, don't let the fear of tomorrow stop you from doing EVERYTHING you can with her today. And then, someday, take those same things and do them all over again with someone else that you care about while remembering this sharing in each loving moment is truly what life is all about.
And, if you find that your mind and body won't allow it, don't regret your limitations in this moment. Realize that, sometimes, there are things outside of our control that prevent us from being at our best and achieving what we set out to do in life. That's why we're all here after all -- to break free from those limitations that hold us back.

This too shall pass. Therapy does work please give it another shot.
