"The Blues"
Hey everyone, I'll start off with a bit on an introduction. I'm Michael, a 19 year old college student.I've had occasional fits of depression - usually related to social or academic events. Up until recently, they weren't really too serious. I would play online games to keep my mind away from these thoughts. Unfortunately, that's not really an option anymore. I'm taking 7 classes, and I've never been busier.
The thing is, I let my emotions get in the way of my school work. I've spent the last two weekends loafing around, feeling no motivation to complete any upcoming assignments. Whenever I have time to myself (which is quite often) ,I'm just constantly in this depressed state where I don't feel like doing anything productive.
This has caused me to fall behind in my studies, which makes me more upset. I'm going to make it perfectly clear that I have never contemplated suicide, I just can't shake this feeling of despair and self-doubt.
I know I can get through this, I've been through much worse. It's just becoming more and more difficult for me to stay positive about the whole situation. This semester has been quite an emotional rollercoaster for me - I've been relivingsome "unsettling" childhood memories.
I'm not really sure what I expect to gain from sharing this. I guess I'm just looking for ways to cope with it. Though, I'm not sure if there is anything thatcan really be done about it.
