Tired of living without direction

I am dissatisfied with my life, as it is. But I dont know what I should focus my energy on: a job, more friends, a girlfriend? Do I work on identifying my core values, boost my self esteem, brainstorm job choices?

I feel like I need to be doing something, working on some part of my life; doing worksheets, deep, soul-searching journal writing, seeking advice from friends, but it all seems like busywork without some guidepost to be working toward.

Is all of this just navel-gazing, over thinking? Do I just do something with intent, and not a well-defined goal?

Hey there @orangeMaple42 ♥ ♥

Depression can surely make you feel like you don't have a direction or if you have one, you aren't having a healthy one as you feel like moving into circles, always coming back to the same point where you had no idea what else to do. Doing that for many times in a row can for sure make you feel like you just want to stop because you are tired and you don't know what you really need or want to do anymore.

I've seen that with people. I personally haven't experienced such a deep level of depression but I can try helping out if needed. :) Sometimes a second perspective can make us see things from a certain distance and that distance can be great isn't it?

Have you tried talking with someone about this and see what they think about what is all this about? What is around you or what is in your head that is putting such a great pressure? Sometimes it can be about both. However, sometimes it just feels like it is.

So ... what I'm saying here is this. Trying to make something too big that is just intimidating at this moment won't make you go any further. Do you have any small goals for everyday? ♥ ♥ Taking each day and creating something - anything - step by step could help you gain more self-confidence and trust in your own worth and abilities. What do you think?

@orangeMaple42 I'm glad you're working to find your why. For me it was more of an overall mindset shift rather than focusing on 1 specific thing. The only thing that feels real to me is helping people so I try to do as much as possible to help people whenever. I try to get as much as possible out of each opportunity. Even if it's something I'd rather not do I try to find a creative way to turn it into a positive experience.

Here are a few questions to help you brainstorm.

What activities make you happiest?

When were your happiest moments?

Is there any aspect of your life that's pulling you down?

Is there any aspect of your life that gives you hope?

What's something you've always wanted to do?
