Unable to overcome grief of losing dad
Hi everyone,
I lost my dad last year and since then my life has not been the same. I miss him every single day and am unable to accept that he is no more. Other than my family none of the people who are close to me have lost their parents so although they try to be supportive I don't feel that they understand what it means to lose a parent. I feel like I am expected to be normal when all I want to do is sit and cry all day long. Since 1 yr I have gained weight, I can't sleep at night and I have no interest in doing anything. I don' t even think about the future as I don't see anything to look forward too. All this is making me constantly angry and agitated. Bcoz of this I snap at my family for the most silly things and so even they don't care much about me as they think I am difficult to deal with. Am so tired of all this. I just want my dad back to make things normal
@Deepapaul
I can understand your pain Deepa,, sometimes life has different plans for us and we are not able to overcome this pain.
There are postive as well as negative way of thinking in this situation,, the negative way is that you keep questioning to your inner self that what has happened??? why this happened with me !! or this should not have happened!! and the other way of thinking is that you feel so fortunate that you experienced a deep immense love. You know there are so less people in this world who have actually felt what really a genuine deep love is !! Dont see it like why this happened!! see it like this that this has happened now and i actually experienced what really love is and tell me what is bigger than that feeling?! The hunger of getting loved will never be over,, we all ask for more and more more but some day or the other this would have happened!! Its going to happen with everyone because no one is immortal. The quantity of time you spent your dad is not that important,, the thing important is that the time you spent with him was a quality time or not.
There are so many people living together but they are not happy with each other,, and all the time you spend with your dad, you were happy.. whats bigger thing than that?! .. so you are one of the most luckiest person person on this planet that u felt what really true love means and deepa your dad want her daughter to be on top of the world and stay happy <3
@VIRAT22 - thank you for your support. I understand what you are saying and totally agree with you. I tell myself the same things and am fine for a couple of days and then Unfortunately I go back to square one of feeling miserable.
I have faced a couple of disappointment in other areas like my career etc after dad passed and what I noticed is that anytime I am sad all the depressing memories of his death resurfaces and it takes me weeks to become a bit normal. Am really not sure how to get over this. But just telling you what I feel has made me feel lighter in my heart. Thanks for listening to me
Hi! I actually relate to what you have said here so much! Its been less than three weeks since I lost my dad. And he was my everything. My friend, my support system, my personal comedian, my guide. I don't probably even realize what has happened because it just feels like he is on a really long night shift. He'll just come in now. Or now! Ok definitely come in this time. But be never this. And this silence, MY silence, its killing me. He was genuinely the best person ever to exist. Always similing. Always happy and so hardworking. Without him there is this hole in my heart that I will probably will never be able to fill. I am so frustrated. All the time!! And I take it out on my family, my brother and my mom. And I feel so guilty after that. I don't know what to do to feel right again. I just know that I am very much broken. And nothing else.
