Unsure
Hey, so for a while now I've been feeling down and lately I considered that it might be depression. I don't know what to do, because I know that how I feel is not nearly as bad as a lot of other people have it, which makes me feel guilty about classifying what I am feeling as being "depressed". It's been really hard for me lately, with recently getting sick and trying whenever I can to not eat, I can feel myself losing interest and motivation for everything I once enjoyed. I don't know what to do at this point. Hell, I don't even know for sure if I actually do have depression, but I'd love any help you guys can give me.. thanks so much...
Hi GeekyGirl. 7 Cups has a couple of resources that could help you. There is an emotional wellness test that looks at whether or not you experience depression, anxiety, and stress. It can be found here (https://www.7cups.com/free-emotional-wellness-test/). In addition, ther is a depression guide that can be found here (https://www.7cups.com/depression-help-online/). You can also connect to a listener if you would like more support.
I've felt unsure just like you have, and just because others may have things worse, or you can't put your finger on exactly what is causing you to feel this way, doesn't mean you are not depressed. As a non-professional who has been through many bouts with depression, it sounds vastly more likely than not that you are indeed suffering depression. Go to a doctor or counselor with your concerns and they will likely confirm (or possibly not) that you are depressed and, much more importantly, help you begin to get better. Please don't let the possibility of doubt extend your suffering by causing inaction. The longer you wait, the harder it may become to live the life you truly deserve, and the longer you will bear this burden alone. You deserve to feel better!
